Apologies in advance for those that'll read this post on a few different sites but I'm hoping that someone can answer a question I have.

Right now through the end of January, Air Canada doubles your Aeroplan miles when flying to specific destinations, now as it happens, I am going to one of those destinations, I had booked without know about the promotion. Now I'll get the double miles anyways but my question is

Does Air Canada run this promotion every year at the same time? Or is this the first time they've tried this?

I ask because I have no problems waiting on these promotions but I need to submit my vacation requests in January, If I know Air Canada is doubling my miles from October to January (like this year) then I'll plan accordingly.

However if this was a once in a blue moon type deal, I'll continue to shop fares. I'll ask Air Canada themselves tomorrow but I doubt they'll tell me.

I`m not sure about the promotion but I have used AC many times out of yyz.To get the best prices you must book 9-10 months before your trip. Air Transit can be cheap if they aren`t full and you book just bfore your trip.These are the only nonstop flights out of yyz that I know of.My next trip in Feb I`m using US Airways one stop and again I booked 10 months ahead for the best price, about $350 cheaper than AC. I hope this will help you as flying from yyz to sjo is a little pricey.

I'm not sure but I'm guessing it's one of those "once in a blue moon promotions." I'm a Continental guy & this year they had 2x Elite miles in the spring & again this fall until dec. 15 but I'm guessing it's a 1 shot deal to stimulate air travel.
