My customary free advice is this: Do not do anything while outside the U.S. The guest facilities in third-world countries are not the most comfortable, and you never know if a set-up awaits your invitation thereto.

generally speaking, as a foreigner you should error on the side of caution. though they are extreme cases, have your friend watch an episode or 2 of "locked up abroad".

maybe he can take a break while traveling.

Yes, I like the episode in Indonesia, I believe, where the U.S. embassy told the defendant that the fingerprints did not match, but the authorities did not want to lose face. The defendant decided not to offer the suggested gift to the local authority, and was dragged to prison. I was on my couch screaming, "Give the gift, give the gift." Well, he stuck to his principle, and nearly lost his life in prison.

yeah, i watch those shows and get physically sick at the stupidity of these characters who have lost all common sense.

so, OP - tell your friend better safe than sorry. not worth the risk. he can drink some beers and be happy.

Any talk of this is not cool
I like Bob Marly and never have a problem hearing his music when I am in town
I am not sure if they play it in the jails
It is good to change ones habits for a few days
Lots of legal vices to be had

Just stay away from anything more than "personal use" quantities.

The replies you are getting on the forum are the "PC" folks.
