There's always a few idiots who have to ruin it for everybody.

They sent in cops in riot gear to clean up the brawl that took place near the Staten Island Ferry terminal near Battery Park, where the parade started. And just yesterday on the radio they were saying how NY is different because when we celebrate, there are no fights, car fires, vandelism, etc.

The Yankees or the Sox should win every year. They have the payroll caps so weighted in their favor, all the small market teams are having to play with unfair rules against them. The Yankees do not have anything to talk about, a group of egos that are only hurting the game.

How are the rules unfair if those are the rules the teams want

Do you really think the rules would be in place if a real Commissioner was in place? Bud Selig is a poor excuse of a Commissioner.

Baseball needs to go back to a real Commissioner like Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis, "Happy" Chandler, Ford Frick or Bowie Kuhn. Guys who had the guts to stand up to powerful owners rather then cave in to people like George.

Jezz :? Mountain Landis swore that a black man would never play in the Majors. Do you want him back

BTW I have never heard my yanks say they did not want the rules to change

Hope you took notice that is was the BROOKLYN DODGERS who changed that! Image

Your Yankees weren't even the first American league team.

But back to the point. Those commissioners were willing to do what was right even when the owners were opposed. If a strong commissioner were in place now I believe a more equitable mechanism would be in place to allow small market teams to have a chance to afford the higher priced talent. Something similar to what the NFL has in place.

Brother ID is spot-on. Bud Selig is a wussy jumped-up car dealer...and should return to that, selling maybe Pontiacs, Oldsmobiles and Hummers. He's been a disaster for MLB.

Yes I took note of that. The point is who calls for a racist to run a major sports league, or a business.

Very few would in this day and age. However, and this is not a justification just a fact of life, the racial divide in the U.S. during his tenure was very real. The U.S. military was segregated, there were "separate but equal" school systems, there were segregated restaurants, restrooms, water fountains, hotels, etc.

He was a man of his time and can not be judged by today's standards and the fact remains he cleaned up baseball and ran the commissioners office with a iron fist refusing to bow down to the owners.

To summarize: We need a very strong somebody to run MLB without all the baggage previous strongmen have brought; somebody with no binding ties to either the owners or labor. Another retired judge/ Justice perhaps?

College graduate or not I think you are being a little over sensitive but as I learned in human relations "perception is reality" so that is the reality of it for you. It's all good amigo. Enjoy the Yankees success.
