No there is a difference. Nuestra Tierra has always been a tourist destination with rip off prices. Princessa Marina was a locals place with fair prices.

Must say, I had the burger the other day and it was one of the best in CR and I'm very critical. Cheap too at like 3500 with fries I think.

I heard the burgers were good there too but never had one. Going to have to give it a try next time I patronize the place.

One thing you have to remember about the food at the SL is that it is bar food. I do not use the term "bar food" in the pejorative, because as a human garbage can with a belly of steel, the "bar food" at the SL is right up my alley. For example, the dedos de queso are to die for - crunchy and crusty on the outside, sinfully saturated by yummy hot grease on the inside. The chicken burrito is stuffed with rice, chicken, and beans, and is one of my favorites. I also like the the nachos de carne, which usually is part of my first meal in CR. The beauty of these and other items on the menu is that they haven't changed one bit in the many years I've been eating there. Once you pick a few favorites on the menu you are assured to get exactly what you expect next week, next month, and next year.

The other thing that turns me off from returning to the Pricessa Marina is the fact that they were shut down last year (not at the Sabana location) by the health dept. I believe some people became fairly ill. It was all over the local papers. After that episode, I just don't trust them at any location.

I've eaten there before and after the shutdown. I always eat at the Sabana location. I have never been sick or felt bad after eating there. The health shutdown really hurt their business. I don't know if they recovered. Before, at lunch time, it was hard to get a table sometimes. A couple weeks after the shutdown, there were 4 (out of 40) tables being used at lunch when we went. And in November last year, the dinner crwod was very light too.

I think it would be classified as good bar food.

Try "Jimmie's Fish Sandwich". You won't find it on the menu but they know what it is: fried fish with all the trimmings on a french bun. Very good.

Do you happen to know what kind of fish that is Pac55? Fish sandwiches are not that common down here, don't know why.

Its probably Mahi-Mahi which is extremely common in Costa Rica.

one note on the SL food - I'd call it good, not great, but for the price, its the best deal in San Jose. I've eaten a lot of things off the menu and compared to most places in San Jose, its as good as if not better.
