I had a chance, last night,to see the latest edition to the SL. It's going to be opened for the Halloween party on Saturday night. It is in the front of the lobby area replacing the fountain which has been removed. Bill told me that it will provide 50 additional seats along with much greater access to service at the bar. It's a great idea from a great place.

cubadave posted a photo of it ..in the vip ! looks nice but it also seems as some of the tables and area for sitting are gone now , My guess is ,those rooms in the courtyard will soon be gone. I said this to my friend who lives in san jose .....the sportmens in the next year or so could become the next key largo ....get rid of the rooms that no one wants to stay in , but tables , dance floor and a side bar .....keep it open until 3 am .....lots of cash off of drinks and food vs the 59 a nite for rooms that are out dated ....just my thoughts !!!!

Or keep some of the courtyard rooms for "short-stay" purposes, say for $20/hr.

Wish SL all the best with a slight word of caution. Don't mess too much with the formula that has kept the rooms full for what, five years. Someone mentioned it becoming like KL. There is a KL and people seem to like SL for a reason....

Looking at the pic of the new bar in the VIP section it looks like the old clunker TV's are mis-aligned with the new bar and some new wide screens may be in order, that would be great. Hint

They needed this at the SL I hate not being able to get a seat at the bar when solo. Now if they can keep the chicas of a few stools it will be better.

The new bar is great, service will go up. Bill has added two more flat screesn on the new bar side that are well positioned. Overall I think it is a huge plus to reducing bottlenecks and providing more seats.

Agreed...Love the new bar area, although I wasnt much for "hanging" at the sofas to begin with....It certainly adds better seating options, plus lessens the congestion in the "old bar".

Last suggestion...get rid of the long table next to the pool table!!! 8 seats vs. being able to walk through in crowded times?? No brainer?? 8)

I would definitely think the courtyard rooms would be much more in peril now. But YMWV as always.

I don't recall ever seeing "nasty bathrooms" at the SL. I've always found them to be very acceptable. I've seen much, much worse here in the states, for sure. I'd also bet if you ever told Bill or any of the management there was a nasty batheroom...It wouldn't be for long.

they have two public bathrooms off the original lobby, on your left as you enter....right?

both so small, you can hardly get in...and when the crowds get big, the ladies line backs out the front door....

and you've never seen them nasty?...last big party i attended, they were reduced to conditions as to bring tears to a Spartan's eyes.

anyway, how did they redo them? make them bigger? increase the number?

don't get me wrong, i love the SL, one of the gems of SJ.

maybe we need to update the best/worst heads thread.
