I stayed at the Copa, and while the bar/pool area is good, the staff sucks. last Nov they actually tried to charge me $40 fee (for 2 friends of mine, 1 female 1 male) to go check out some surfing dvd's at my place,, WTF? I checked out right then and there and stayed at my buddies place for the rest of the time.. Copa sucks for mongers and is even worse for non-mongers.. ps (lots of ants in the room too)

As someone who is in the resort business, and who has stayed at the Copa at least six visits that I can account for, I would like to comment on this thread.

I have on every occasion found that the CRT discount was honored and there were no chica fees. As for the rooms, while they are not 4 star by American standards, they are clearly some of the best rooms in Jaco. As with any hotel virtually anywhere, the staff does not and never will execute as well as management. They simply do not share the same passion as a manger or an owner.

I would encourage board members who are staying there to ask for Leo and introduce yourself. He is a very personable guy and should you have a problem I would approach him at the time you are there and allow him the opportunity to resolve it.

As for the pool, the last time I was there in November, there were 4-6 girls there each afternoon. I selected one who was a Colombian and the negotiated price was $70.00. Service was acceptable and as far as convenience could not be beat.

I will be down next week for the superbowl party and then off to Jaco again at the Copa, If I see something different from in the past, I will objectively report back to the board.

Playtime...I think your experience is as the majority there. The key difference for you guys is...get to know and be nice to the Manager (Leo). They can make a huge difference to your experience there. I'll tell you right now though...Leo hates the "Ugly American" syndrome...so be polite, cordial and culturally sensitive and I doubt anyone will have any problems that cant be resolved amicably. I'll be there next week for a day or two.

I've seen it before, especially here in Jaco. People see dollar signs during the season and many people don't honor discounts and specials at this time. They don't seem to know how it can affect their business during the other times of the year. Hotel Poseidon can be a good place to stay. I wouldn't say they are chica friendly or non friendly. They definitely don't say anything if you aren't out of hand or causing a scene. Not really a good place if you are taking one of the gaudy chicas, they really stick out like a sore thumb in Jaco. Really not a good idea to be walking down the sidewalk hand in hand with a working girl in the morning.

Newbie Here -

Will be arriving to SJ 11/17 and heading to Jaco till the 19th, and staying the last night in SJ.

I have found links for Tangeri and Paradise. Anyone have a link to Copacabana for room details and rates?

Would like to stay in the 70 - 100 / night range w/ two bd rooms, as I’m heading down there with friend.

All comments would be appreciated.

I recommend the Tangeri. Great location, great air conditioners in rooms by the water, clean grounds, nice pools, three blocks from the Beatle Bar, refrigerators in the rooms, good on-site security, and no chica fees. Only drawback is that the breakfast included at the Tangeri Restaraunt isn't that good. There's plenty of place's to get a good breakfast within walking distance from the hotel.
