Not to forget that the English expression "That's rich" has shades of meaning depending on context. Do you mean a double-chocolate cake (accurate expression of delight) or Chester A. Arthur's Presidency (pure derision)?
I also cringe at the oft-misused word "awesome" (describing the thing or action) vs. "awe-inspiring" (the feeling induced in you by the thing or action). Mostly, we say the former but mean the latter. A Jazzbo rant.
And then ther's doubling rico with increased intensity, as "rico RICO", a sort of double-plus good as explained by my bud Sr. Ortiz a certified medical/ legal translator.

The closest single-word English equivalent I can think of is "yummy."

Yes, this is actually a serious question...

Of course, rico literally means "rich", but it's come to have a much "richer" meaning in the context we often hear it in. Therefore, the question - in that context, what is the best one-word English translation?

I'd say good.

In a sexual context - as in "que rico pinga, papi"...

The one I'm leaning towards right now is "delicious", but I'm sure there must be a better one...c'mon, you native-Spanish guys - I'm counting on you!

Pinga is slang for penis. So, she is saying what a great dick daddy!!!! There's one for your ego.

Okay - let's be more specific. What I'm actually doing is sub-titling a video - I need an English word to substitute for 'rico' in a sexual context...

What's the one word that would best convey the totality of what 'rico' expresses???

Now, you have me scratching my head... I hear 'rico' in some figurative form probably 10x per day. However, there really isn't one word that covers it all.

que dicha... how fortunate or by fortune or good luck
que chiva.... que bueno or how good/great but not used much
que rico.... how great or thats great

here's one....

que ricisimo... this means the uttermost que rico. And, make sure you roll the tongue on the "r". That should be the word.

When I visit the novia's family, we usually stop by and grab a couple of pizzas for Pizza Hut. "rica" "rica" "rica" . They don't live near a Pizza Hut so I guess it is "rica" for them.

Astonishing isn't it that what we in the Land of the Big PX sneer at (chain Pizza) excites Ticos so much, whereas what they take for granted (cheap, readily available p*ssy) we find so exotic and travel hundreds of mile to sample?

Miamiheller has it right. "Rico" means all those things and maybe more.
You can thank the Colombianas for that expression. I used to visit Costa Rica a lot from the late '70s until the early '90s. I never heard "rico" used to mean anything but "wealthy" or "rich" as in "rich soil."

But the migration of lots of Colombianos into CR brought some of their expressions with them, and rico is one of them, or so I've been told by both Ticos and Colombianos. It has sort of permeated central america and creeped over into Venezuela too, I think.

It's a handy expression. It can mean anything from "that's tasty," to "that's cool" to "OMG, that feels good."

Que rico!
