There is a "love motel" in Pavas and probably the motel in Pavas is about the same distance / perhaps a bit longer taxi ride from the Gulch than Eden is. This motel is not nearly as large as Eden and is somewhat hidden although I imagine any taxi driver would know where it is. I have not been there in over a year however as I recall the price was 8,000 colones for up to a 5 hours stay and that price included one free beer, towells, soap.
I cannot remember the name off hand but will go by and get the name and post it. Here are taxi / driving directions from the gulch.
Go to the "old road" to Escazu by Sabana Sur heading west; take the right turn at the bridge on Rio Anonos and head north / then west and stay on this street and pass the "Jacks snacks" factory which will be on your right; then go about a quarter mile / 500 metres west and the motel will be on your right. If you see a room with a green light and the garage door open then it is available; if none of the rooms have a green light then you can wait a bit as the rooms are constantly having guests leaving, etc.
I have never been to Eden so I cannot compare - however this motel in Pavas is clean, safe and very discreet. I will update this with the name, etc. and if anyone has questions then they can PM me.
