I read that taxistas try to charge extra to take you there. Is this true?

When you leave is when the taxis really stick it to you.

So what you're saying is that it may cost $50 (room + taxi) to bring a chica there.

The taxis are usually 4k, if you take a taxi you know then it is no problem. I have been unsuccesful getting a regular maria cab to take me there.

The upper section is 20,000 colones; the lower section is still 15,000 colones.

Has anyone tried the place near ULICIT? It is about 50 mts east of the Limon bus terminal. It says on the sign out in front 5000 for 3 hours.

There is a "love motel" in Pavas and probably the motel in Pavas is about the same distance / perhaps a bit longer taxi ride from the Gulch than Eden is. This motel is not nearly as large as Eden and is somewhat hidden although I imagine any taxi driver would know where it is. I have not been there in over a year however as I recall the price was 8,000 colones for up to a 5 hours stay and that price included one free beer, towells, soap.

I cannot remember the name off hand but will go by and get the name and post it. Here are taxi / driving directions from the gulch.

Go to the "old road" to Escazu by Sabana Sur heading west; take the right turn at the bridge on Rio Anonos and head north / then west and stay on this street and pass the "Jacks snacks" factory which will be on your right; then go about a quarter mile / 500 metres west and the motel will be on your right. If you see a room with a green light and the garage door open then it is available; if none of the rooms have a green light then you can wait a bit as the rooms are constantly having guests leaving, etc.
I have never been to Eden so I cannot compare - however this motel in Pavas is clean, safe and very discreet. I will update this with the name, etc. and if anyone has questions then they can PM me.
I hope this is helpful to some of you,
easy

The name of the motel is "Nubeblanca".

Here's some opinions expressed locally:

Curiously enough Nube Blanca is the Indio hero of a comic book series in the '60's--actually El Jefe Nube Blanca. Wonder which came first, the motel or the character? It's also the name of a horse and cattle ranch in Santa Ana CR. I love Google--it's so much serendipitous fun.
