This is a big week for fútbol.
Tuesday Costa Rica plays Brazil in the semi-finals of the Mundial Sub-20. This is widely considered to be Costa Rica's greatest fútbol accomplishment ever. The president has decreed a "holiday" from 12 to 3pm that afternoon so that everyone can watch the game.

And then Wednesday, Costa Rica will find out whether or not it will clinch a berth to the regular Copa Mundial (By beating the U.S. in the final qualifying game to be played in Washington, D.C., or by getting an assist from El Salvador against Honduras).
The bottom line is that this week will be a roller-coaster of emotions for all Ticos. But whatever happens, don't worry; there will still be plenty of Nicas and Colombianas to act as backup if things don't go as hoped.
