Just get a spanish for beginners book, make sure it fits in the back of your pocket, because you need to get used to carrying docs and money in your front pocket. Practice phrases and convo with the different tica and nica bartenders arond town.

Ya know, it helps if you can break the ice with some chit-chat. Opening up with something like "You are very pretty" or "I like your ________" (insert body part) can go a long way instead of starting off with "Chupas sin condon?"

Learning a little spanish isn't that tough and it can gain you guite a bit of respect. Give it a try.

This is usually what I start out with followed by pulling out a $100 bill. I never have a problem! ...jk...I agree to put forth some effort and learn a little Spanish.
