Hotel Tangeri (506) 643-3001 and (506) 643-3157
www.hoteltangeri.com
one block south of Beatle Bar
I suggest rooms 201,202,203 more privacy than Copa, the driveway/parking doesn't interupt your view of ocean
Grounds are nicer, same amenities
I believe it is $89/ day high season including breakfast
Bueno suerte

There are a number of hotels in Jaco. Be sure to call them direct for the best prices.

Try this link:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=jaco+beach+hotels

Here's a map of some of the hotels:

As stated on another thread of this subject regarding Copacabana...

Quote:
NEVER chica fees for CRT VIPs. Just see Leo the manager upon checking in. He is definitely in our corner. The only times he has had problems is if guys are obnoxious or making too much noise for his other guests. He's very cool if that isnt the case. Your biggest problem may be getting a reservation there. I just heard they're booked up for the next couple months. But it is the best beach walkout hotel in Jaco in my opinion...if only because its so close to the Beattle Bar .

Alanchar12,

Stayed at the Copa for two nights last November. Really had fun there, and the proximity to the Beatle Bar is a big advantage. Initially, the Tica fees were on our bill, but I appealed to Leo the manager directly, and he waived them.

Two really cute pros were working the Copa pool while we were there. Didn't even realize they were pros at first. Anyway, if you want more details, here's a link to my trip report:

Tman-
With all due respect, I presented my card to desk upon checking in, yet still filled out $20 chica voucher ever time. I talked to Leo while I was there, and he told me he was not honoring the CRT discount at that time(his exact words). At that point, I decided not to make a fuss. Upon checking out, there were no chica fees on my bill, however there were no chica fees on one of my buddie's bill(not a CRT member), and there was one of two chica fees on another buddie's bill(also not CRT)?? My one friend and I, also payed cash, which they said they would not collect the room tax. All I know is what Leo told me, and I believe the rest could have been attributed to sloppy bookeeping or paying cash, which, I guess they did not have to report. The suite, itself was very nice, other than the ongoing plumbing problems that I have experienced on 3 stays there, but definately not worth $149 in my opinion

Admin uno-
I do not have copy of bill because I purged all my receipts after a month(especially the cash receipts). Even if I did have it, nothing would show up, as I was not charged chica fees, but I believe that this was only sloppy billing because my other amigos(not CRT) experienced the same sloppy billing (fortunately, to our benefit). Regardless, I have truthfully related what Leo stated to me when I questioned him in el bano as to not honoring the CRT discount at this time(December). Now, obviously, I have a hardon toward this hotel, altho I liked it when Larry had it, but my attitude is based on my feeling that they are not honoring their agreement. If they honor it for some people, and not others, where does this leave us. Your attention to this matter may benefit other members, but I have no intention of staying there again--there are too many other decent, reasonably priced options.
Diablo
PS.-- I was not rude to anyone, or cause any problem at the hotel, other than mention three times that my shower did not drain for a day and a half, and my other amigo did not have hot water for two days--so Leo would have had no reason directly related to my behavior to single me out and make the statement that he did.

December. Unfortunately it sounds like you got caught up in the Jaco greed. During the peak times of the year, the businesses get greedy as there is so many people wanting rooms. They tend to overlook the long range implications of their actions.

Sorry you had this experience Diablo...but I have put 25-30 friends or CRT members in there over the past year and while there have been times where staff tried to charge visitor/chica fees, it was always corrected and all left the place happy. You and your group seem to be the only exception. I stay there often myself, and sometimes I have to work through uninformed or less than service minded staff that dont know the CRT deal. Now when I check in I just make sure they see my CRT discount card, and I make myself known to Leo that I'm "in the house". From there it is always a pleasant stay.

Service mentality in Costa Rica is inconsistant in almost every business I have been involved with here...I talked to Leo about this personally last time. He cant always count on staff to handle things correctly. Also unfortunately, he has had a couple CRTers cause problems with noise and/or rude behavior and has curtailed their privileges or asked them to leave. That happens sometimes in that business and with so many VIPs now, I'm sure CRT cant enforce or guarentee the behavior of all. You and your group just must have caught them on a bad day or week. Still...your comments are duly noted...but please dont insist that everybody gets hit with chica fees. It's just not true.

Tman: There are 12 of us going to SJ and Jaco in April and after seeking advice here from fellow CRT members (my recent posts) and also from not being able to find anything else in Jaco to accomodate 12 of us, I chose the Copa as well. Afterall, I also read the earlier positive posts. Then, I get replies that I'm making a mistake. Anyway, we'll find out in early April. I like its location. My problem is with the Presidente. Wendy responded quickly to my initial e-mail of the 12th to hotpres@yahoo.com and info@hotel-presidente.com confirming the availability. I have now sent 3 e-mails with my credit card number and the 12 names as requested (also to vip@hotel-presidente) and nothing. No response. The other 11 guys are married and are hesitant to stay at the DR in case the old lady does a Google and finds out what the DR is famous far. While we want to stay in the heart of the gulch, I'm thinking I better make plans quickly elsehwere, ie: Amon Plaza. Sorry for the vent. Wile Coyote
