Goetz,
There was no mention of airfare to CR and so one would have to assume that isn't included. Same deal on the departure tax. Airport transfers WERE mentioned but at only $12 each way, thats no big deal. More significantly, internal airfare was mentioned. However, I wouldn't assume on the shorter trips that it would include transfers to more than one resort. But lets just say it does. Airfare anywhere in CR is only about $50 o/w or $100 r/t. If one doesn't want to relax and stay in one place but takes one flight each and every day that would amount to $50/day
The hotels/resorts mentioned run more like $150-500/night depending on the room selected (which was not specifically defined). For example one night in the very best room at Tabacon Resort near Arenal runs $264/nt + tax during high season. My guess is that since the room selection wasn't specified, they probably wouldn't be providing the top line room. Not that there is anything wrong with that since even their standard rooms are very nice. A better question is whether any room is really worth that much to begin with. There are certainly much cheaper and perfectly acceptable alternatives that could save you $200 or more per night. It really depends on how much each person values the added luxury. All I can say is that it ain't worth it for me. But for arguments sake lets figure the average room on this junket to be $300/nt.
Food and beverages are supposed to be included, but again it isn't specified exactly what that entails. Are we talking a full bar tab or just a welcome rum punch? Again, my guess would be that if they don't say otherwise one should assume they'll provide the least that they can. Food? Maybe YOU could eat $100 worth of food per day. I'd be hard pressed to do that considering one can get a very good meal at Mariscar for under $3 and even a meal at a 'fancier' restaurant like Tin Jo, Machu Pichu would probably run $20-30 tops. Lets figure covered F&B at more like $50/day max.
Last but not least is the chica herself. As you stated that can be found for $100/day. Maybe one could pay more but I've already allowed slack in my other figures to cover that. As for the optional second companion, that was mentioned and it IS extra at $250/day for the first day and $500/day thereafter. OUCH. Since that was specifically not listed as part of the $2995 and can be gotten independently for FAR less anyway lets leave that out of our calculations. Lets also forget about incidentals that weren't mentioned, probably aren't included anyway and don't amount to much either way.
It all adds up to only $500/day ($300 hotel, $50 F&B, $50 transfers and $100 chica). Maybe a little more for chicas or maybe a little less for other allowances, but a pretty close ballpark. The basic 4d/3n Global Fantasy package costs $1000/nt or about twice the "real" value that I calculated above and is clearly a rip-off. However, if one has already made the mistake and has to sacrifice a 50% deposit whether they use the service or not, then it becomes much more problematic.
One more point in general terms. Dave wrote:

BTW, for anyone wondering why I was willing to go this route (eg DM), it's because I typically work through a promoter the first time I go to a new country. Then I learn the ropes and figure out how to do it better on my own.
I did this myself when I first started this "hobby" back in 1993. However, I paid only about $2000 for 10 days in Thailand. That included airfare from NY (then about $900), hotels and guide service to the clubs but not the companionship itself. Once I got there and discovered the cost of hotels and how easy it was to find out where to go I felt a little ripped off but, like you, figured the premium was worth the price of education. BUT, that was also back when the internet was just getting started. Since then, and after only very little effort, I've learned that there is plenty of free or very inexpensive sources of information out there including CRT (the best source of info on CR), CRS before it imploded, TRM, WSG, Club Hombre just to name a few. Using your method of education in this day and age is needlessly expensive.
