We don´t. We are still located in a city with streets and traffic. The plugs are a courtesy to guests who are light sleepers. We also replaced all the street side windows with double paned sound retardant windows. I was suggesting it as a way for Matt ot mitigate his issue.

Thanks for the input from those men who responded with solid information. We've made the decision to book elsewhere but intend to go over to La Amistad and spend a day and perhaps book a night or two to see just what this train is all about and how our little group reacts to it. It makes perfectly good sense that each man is going to respond differently to the sounds just as it makes sense that some adjust more quickly than others and some don't adjust at all.

The road construction and subsequent re-routing of traffic will soon enough be gone, but it reads as if the train is a major success (which makes a lot of sense if you think about San Jose "rush hour traffic" vs. a "commuter train") and won't be stopping anytime soon. Shoot, we may take a ride on the darn thing.

Thanks again

West Palm, I have stayed at Presidente,Morazon,Hotel del rey, sportmans lodge, clarion amon plaza and La Amistad. And i would say La amistad is as nice as any. I never heard the train except when I was outside but then again my hearing is not that great.

I stayed at LA in April, and have booked again for Halloween. I never had any issues with the train, but then again I'm pretty much lights out when my head hits the pillow. I actually have to struggle to make it downstairs for breakfast.

So count me as one who has no issues with the train.
