I'm coming to CR for a few days next month. I'm not really interested in staying in San Jose or Jaco. I'd rather try somewhere a little more laid back.

I've heard these two beaches are great. I haven't found a lot of info on either - on here or on google, etc. On here most of what I can find is breif references to them being better tharn jaco :)

Further south past Jaco. Much nicer and cleaner than Jaco. But much less (if any) chicas available.

MA is supposed to be one of the nicest beaches in CR, but I've never been so can't say.

I understand you were looking for particular experiences from the Brotherhood but the first place I'd try for info is www.tripadvisor.com There's 2500 Forum Q&As and 1100 reviews there on Quepos. www.infocostarica.com may be of some help. And the official ICT site at www.visitcostarica.com
You do understand there will be limited P4P opportunities there?

I prefer my sea urchin roe very fresh with just a shot of lime or lemon juice, but the baguette sounds like a nice addition 8)

Its actually much better than Jaco, and a great place to take a chica. Awesome beach for swimming or surfing, football or soccer. A huge number of different bars to watch sunsets, and a gringo bar for info  Called Sargento Garcias with the sports also. Disco is in Quepos and on the weekends the locals come down from the Hills. Fair to midlin spanish needed. :D

Quepos: County seat, sort of. Dangerous park at night...drogeros mostly. Undulating sidewalks is right, Green Go! Damn near killed myself my last trip there.

Playa #3 inside the Manuel Antonio National Park is one of the most beautiful beaches on Earth. During rainy season, you'll have to wade through chest-deep water to get to the path leading to the beach.

In my opinion, M.A. is ridiculously overdeveloped, and much of the charm of ten years ago has been buried under concrete.

The folks are still pretty friendly. Try Gran Escape on Saturday nights for both p4p opportunities and a smoked trout quesadilla that rocks. Wacky Wanda's, Sergento Garcia's and Mar y Blues might also be good places to hook up with pros and semi-pros.

Beware... Many of the lovelies trying to sell their wares are...er.... how you say, jail-bait? :( Ceck sedulas (ID cards) with a microscpe.

Good lodging: Hotels in Quepos tend to be less expensive than those on the M.A. road; consider Hotel Malinche ($39.00/night for room with private bath...not bad). Also in town is the Best Western Kamuck, a hotel with a small casino and as I recall, a pool.

Weekend nightlife in Quepos is lively and fun, but again, be careful not to employ chicas of less than legal age. Room range from $30.00 or so for very rustic accomodations, up to $250.00/night at Si, Como No. Costa Verde is a nice option but expensive.

Quepos/Manuel Antonio is about four hours by car from San Jose, as I recall. The drive is nice though...and you'll get to see Jaco along the way.

HTH
Check tripadvisor for recommendations on beach hotels. Also :D

Top 5 american beach especially weekdays. Town (Quepos) is tico but busy and interesting, and a few of the joints mentioned there have some pay 4 play. Bring your own better idea. Beach is worth the trip. My favorite and I think I have been to 90% of them In CR.

been to quepos/manuel antonio four or five times. it is really laid back with easy access to hiking in a rainforest. lots of monkeys and iguanas, lots of flora and fauna. nice shopping scene and clean beautiful beach.

definitely not a great place for looking for professionals at least in the places i have gone. one place had a dance night and there were some decent ladies that appeared very available. but that was it.
really clean beach and a couple of hotels that are right on the beach. can't remember the name right now but if you are interested pm me. really relaxed and great if you are bringing a date. good food but not exactly inexpensive esp in quepos. hope that helps

Everyone - thanks for the awesome tips!

I'm staying in jaco, and will make at least one day trip to MA. I'm bringing my cameras and plan to take a lot of good pics. I have some jungle hikes lined up, and some other tourist stuff going on.

I'm only there for 5 nights, but plan to pack a lot into those days.

I plan to hire a car and driver for a couple days so I can just wake up, get in, and go somewhere new.

How far is Tamarindo from Jaco?

Razor,

Here is a useful tool for your mileage question.

Looks like 153 miles, do you plan on driving? Pack a lunch and some Imperials
