I really great way to go is the condos out back at the Cocal. I believe they are called Vista Mar. My wingman and I stayed there twice in the last 8 months and always get a pretty good deal. We stayed back in June for $225 a night for a 3BR really sweet place. Both times we just showed up and did some negotating. I gotta say that I like Jaco better than the San Jose, but I also love the beach. Never had any problem with crime in Jaco, but we are always careful. The Monkey Bar now is under new ownership and has a great crowd nightly, along with Le Loft. The Beetle needs no comments, but go early, the crowd in Jaco definately moves as the night gets later.

Yes it was! We stayed in a 3,000 square foot condo that was impeciably furnished, not a shoe box.....

I've heard those are really nice. I bet you had a hell of a view.

It looks like they have a few options. I was quoted $200 on the phone. We're going down without a reservation. I'm confident we'll work something out. Someone will rent us a room... 8)

Here is a listing on Craigslist that I found this morning, trying to find a house for some friends coming down. http://costarica.en.craigslist.org/vac/1313455554.html

Thanks for the tip, much appreciated. We're in town for one night and there's three of us wingmen, so this wouldn't quite work. I'm hopeful Cocal will work for us.
