Vegas Bob took a group to Morazon Restaurant on the corner North of the Hotel Del Rey on the same block where some 7/11 bar used to be located. It is great continental/central american style food and reasonable. I missed any prior review of it.

Next he took us on a wild taxi ride to find JR House of Ribs.

I think the Morazon restaraunt is a great spot.. funny thing if you didn't Notice it is a GAY BAR.... personally I could care less, but I was having dinner with a friend (Male) and noticed everyone was coupled up girl / girl -- guy / guy.. and the waiter was way to friendly. ...... If your not in anyway bothered by this Highly reccomended as it was good food and quite reasonble and that atmosphere was quite good...

JR's is a long time local favorite too, but the bitch wife hates rips.. "I DONT WANT TO GET MY HAND DIRTY" ... so we don't get there... Was there about 6 months ago and it always seems Dead. Food is solid nothing fancy just good.

I agree that JR's is a good place for lunch. I haven't been there for dinner. Though it is very close to Hotel Castillo physically, I can't fly and I'm not thrilled with that walk at night. There was enough of a pest bothering us just walking home in the middle of the day. He was really hard to shake, until we passed NF and he realized he wouldn't get a commission. The doorman at the Dunn Inn warned us about him when we walked by.

Morazan seems to be the name of a lot of places in the neighborhood. The restaurant/bar you refer to has changed a lot over the last few years. The entrance used to be on Calle 9, and they gave you silverware in a glass of boiling water. The ladies from the BM liked it. There is another Morazan restaurant near ZB, on Calle 5(?), between Avenidas 7 and 9. They name lots of stuff over a guy they shot in the 1840's. That was in Parque Central, but all of the restaurants/parks/hotels are in a different part of town. Go figure.

Morazon as a gay restaurant? No Problem.

They did not kick out butts out and we had a chica with us. They went out of their way to push some tables together for our group.
All the good restaurants in my town have a gay waitstaff, and some gay customers and they do a great job.

I had chicken in a cream sauce with asparagus and mashed potatoes. Yummy. And the house wine was nice too.

We all had the same thought but were afraid to mention it. I think that this is one board that is 100% hetero. Not that there is anything wrong with....
A gay guy I know asked if there was any gay scene in CR. I said I only know of the TVs in the park and he was insulted that I even mentioned them!

The Morazan Park Restaurant is not OVERTLY gay...like some guys dont even notice...and you will see a lot of couples eating there because it is good food and good value.

For those who have gay acquaintances with questions like this, there are quite a number of gay bars and restaurants in town...obviously to go along with a significant gay population. There even a 5star gay hotel in Rhomoser that is well known. Many of the Ticos are bi sexual...which is why you see so much transvestie action downtown...there is plenty of action for them even if they dont have their own "Delrey" . IMHO...this is another reason to be careful about unprotected sex. Many Ticas are or have gone with bi Ticos...and this is where alot of the AIDS growth continues to source from. It's still a big global issue in the mongering community. Be careful out there...
