Very well put Lee. I've never stayed at the DR, and I hope the SL is as good as everyone says it is. I'm planning on making SL the hotel of choice on all my future trips, but you've defended the DR very well.

I just got back from my first CR trip. I went alone (stike 1) and I stayed at the DR (strike 2, although I enjoyed it). I arrived Friday and left Sunday so it was a quick trip. During my short stay I had 8 ticas which cost a a bit more than I had anticipated... but I did have a blast. I really loved going downstairs and being met by a hundred ticas.

Most ticas at DR will split soon after you finish. To them an hour means one pop. Except for two ticas I met there. One actually wanted to stay the entire hour and the other I spent hours with, talking to, having dinner, etc.

Before I went, my friend told me to leave my emotions at home. I was fine for 7 of them but one tica has me thinking of her every day and all I want to do is go back and find her. Tell me if I am wrong or if this is a case of the noobs.

The rooms did suck. I stayed in an economy room the first night because that was all they had. I checked out Saturday morning to head up to Arenal in the car I rented (strike 3). I made it back to San Jose before sunset but had no place to stay, so I headed back to what I knew best. Booked a deluxe room which was "ok" until I tried to sleep. Being situated next to the road, I was able to determine to the second how often the light turned red. Every 26 seconds cars would line up and honk. Many cars! Many honks! very annoying if trying to sleep.

Why was I sleeping in the first place? Can't afford to waste time sleeping while mongering.

This is for the newbies.

Do not let the vets hotel choices, gripes and plain conform level confuse you. This thread is just as useless as deciding what chica nationality is best in bed. Impossible to disgust because we all have different tastes, economic backgrounds and experiences. For me the HDR nor the SL are a choice. I rather stay at La Amistad or someplace else. My money and my choice.

Saying that, every newbie and even vets should always be on the look out for the best deal for your money. That means that wherever you stay, checkout the rest of the hotels around. There might be a better one that has the right tone, price and appeal to YOU.

JOsie....I guess that is why the thread is titles...Why the DR is not for ME....

Why is it so wrong Cujo points out why he does not and would not stay there or hang there for extended periods of time?

Is it that hard to disagree without calling it useless

OK…What would you call it? Ineffective, waste of bandwidth, unproductive, fruitless, futile, ineffectual, unsuccessful, feeble, hopeless, etc. (got tire of typing the same synonym)?

I’m trying to convey to the newbies that it is OK to make a choice. Read, investigate and make a decision and even like that you still might make a mistake on the selected hotel. Before my first trip I read everything and when I said everything I mean all of the threads on CRT, ISG and even Club Hombre. On my first trip I stay at the Castillo. Many members love the hotel but for me it was just OK until I started cruising a checking the rest of the hotels around, after many visits to the different hotels, I choose La Amistad.

If you have read my post I’m a big supporter of La Amistad with my dollars as well as advice to others but I have also being known to push newbies to the HDR. Why? Just for the sheer magnitude of the shock value. Get over that and you should be able to handle just about anything in CR. Shit, on your newbie trip you should not be sleeping anyway.

Needles to say we seem to be putting down a monger landmark. Can you imagine how many gallons of wasted sperm get flushed everyday on that hotel? Regardless this is one of those threads that instead of sharing light into a subject it creates confusion for the first timer. So instead of attacking the HDR and being so negative and hateful, why not spread the joy of staying at the SL and leave at that.

Actually, I would call it a useful exchange of information and opinions on a well known mongering hotel.

With one or two exceptions, it seems to me everyone has posted valid opinions in here, both for and against the place.

By reading this thread, I have learned a couple of things about the Del Rey I didn't know -- for example, the lower floor rooms are noisy and the 6th floor rooms seem quite nice actually -- especially the ones with balconies. I've also learned some "semipro" chicas may balk at going to the DR because of the place's reputation.

Finally, I think most newbies would want to know the good and the bad of a place so they can form their own opinion. If I do choose to stay at the DR despite what I've read here and in other threads, it will be because I chose to do so after wading through the invaluable masses of information and opinion generously shared by the CRT community.

Then you need to read past threads because that has been discussed ad nauseam.

Which I have. However, I have enough respect for the opinions of my fellow CRT brothers that I'll open new threads like this one to see if I can gather some more nuggets of information. Obviously, for an experienced veteran such as yourself, the stuff posted here is redundant. There's a solution to that -- don't open the thead.

With all due respect, I would ask you the same question.

Didn't you post something about this thread being "Ineffective, waste of bandwidth, unproductive, fruitless, futile, ineffectual, unsuccessful, feeble, hopeless, etc. (got tire of typing the same synonym)"?

And I have never said you have, not have I implied it, nor have I personally attacked you. I have merely disagreed with you and offered my reasons for doing so.

Now, I can see you have very strong opinions about this particular subject, which is perfectly fine. I can also see you don't agree with me, and that's perfectly fine, too.

However, I also recall you saying something about "ad hominem" posts a while back. If you don't agree with my opinion, why resort to personal attacks such as "who appointed you the sheriff" and "you should go back and read"... not to mention the "I don't kiss ass" comment?

As you can probably tell, I'm not into kissing ass, either. Particularly not yours. I might make an exception for a very hot tica though.
