Can anyone suggest a good tour operator?

I have it down between

Grayline and Cat Tours..
Does anyone have any experience with them? Grayline seems to have a good price.

I'm gonna stay at SL my entire trip and just book a tour from SJ instead of running around all over the country.

Thanks..

I just got back from CR last week and I used a tour company called Marbella Tours. I took two tours and it turned out they overcharged me $74. I found this out when I was on my 2nd tour that everyone else had paid $89 and I had paid $129. I guess it was my fault for not completely researching the situation. I complained to the company and they finally agreed to return the overpayment to me (which I haven't received yet).

The funny thing is that the woman I was working with at the agency told me that she wants to meet me when I come to CR again. I googled her name and found out she is 24 and is totally hot. We have been emailing back and forth since then. Maybe she works part time?

The lesson I learned was to do my research more completely before committing to anything.

I took maybe half a dozen day tours during my first few trips to CR...all with different tour operators. I enjoyed all of them and do not have any complaints. It's amazing how much territory these tours can cover in a day.

I went on the Tortuguera Canals Tours and it was a very nice tour, but it was a long tour (12 hours). It is a 3 hour drive over to the Caribbean, but you see alot of wild animals and birds.

If you do use Marbella I would make sure that the rates are comparable to the other operators. I think they might charge higher fees if it is a tour they are not directly involved in. In other words, if they have to book through another operator they might charge more than the base rate. I am not an expert in these things, but this seems to be why they overcharged me.
