I tried to go to dinner with friends at my favorite steak restaurant last night in Escazu. The place was closed. Does anyone know if this is permanent? Also is their other restaurant of the same name in Santa Ana open?

Good news for you VB. Novillo Alegre moved up the hill toward Escazu centro. They are now located across the street from Chi-Chi's.

Thanks ID...I knew you would know the answer. I'm very happy they are still in business so I can enjoy my once every 2 months steak.

Boudmon,
Was Novilla Allegre the place we went last September? If so thank god it is not closed. Definitely the best steak I've had in CR.

I had dinner last night at the new location for Novillo Alegre. if you enjoyed the old place in Escazu, you will love this place. It's much larger and upscale. The prices seem to have gone up slightly, but it's well worth it. Two of us had a steak dinner with a soft drink for 31,000 col. total. (that's about $28 each) As was pointed out already, the new location is on the main road across the street from Chi-chis restaurant in Escazu.

Has anyone been to Il Padrino, across from the Bomba Shell? It is constantly advertised on Amnet cable. Just wondering if it is worth the trip from East Jesus.

It is across from the Shell in Pavas not Escazu. I have not eaten there but those who have say it pretty good food at a medium price range. Decor and menu are a little hokey with the Godfather theme. Not sure it is worth a lengthy drive.
