In a conversation with a friend yesterday,he told me that he read that Laura Chinchilla is leading her party's poll by 43% to 36% for President of Costa Rica over Johnnie Ayala the mayor of S.J. She gave up her vice Presidency to run for President in February. This is serious because this is the lady who managed to close all the casinos in Costa Rica from 5am to 3pm putting hundreds of workers out of jobs with the reasoning that it would "save the Ch*ldren". This do-gooder says that she is opposed to prostitution as well as gambling in CR. Her excuse for closing the casinos during these hours was that young "prostitutes" hang around the casinos looking for clients. Other than the DR there are very few working chicas in casinos, and they aren't in the DR for the casino. This is a serious concern for everyone here because there is no doubt in my mind that if elected she will try to outlaw prostitution. I know there is nothing any of us can do,but I thought I should give everone a heads-up. Personally,if they outlaw prostitution along with closing or restricting the casinos I will move out of CR.
Vegas Bob,
Your looking at this scenario from the wrong perspective. With all the Wal-Mart mongers out of CR, it will be easy pickens for you and all the others who live there. The chicas asking price will drop substantially with no gringos driving up the price. Does anyone think a Tico will pay cien for a gringo hour (15-30 minutes)? Law or no law, it will not be difficult to find chicas. Think of Cuba who undoubtedly have much tougher laws than CR would ever implement.
If the new laws are passed I would seriously consider putting CR back on my list again. The only question left unanswered is what will become of all the underpaid Colombian chicas in the Del Rey, renown for their exemplary service and great attitudes?
