I know a chica from another country visiting San Jose these days. She referenced staying in Hotel Atlantic. Is anybody familiar with the location of this place?

I searched for every variation of it I could find in English and Spanish and didn't see anything.

For her sake, I hope they don't have a chica fee. Especially if she's sharing!

My research showed the nearest Hotel Atlantico is in Rio. Not to play you or the Chica stupid, but CR is a long distance to the Atlantic--it would be a funny name for a hotel here.

Was she talking about the Cabinas Atlantic in Limon? That's a ways away from San Jose...

It is possible she was talking about the Hotel Asia as some girls stay there overnight when it gets to late for the bus. However it would be hard to misinterpret how they pronounce Asia and make it seem like they said Atlántico.

CR is a long distance from Europe, but there’s a Hotel Europa in SJ :D

It may be that the Hotel Europa caters to Euro folk or they trying to evoke a Euro atmosphere, and after all the Spanish came from Europe. I'll stand with my remark.

There is an old train station that is now a museum called Estación Atlantico (Atlantic Station) in Heredia on calle 3. There very well could be a Hotel Atlantico/Atlantic near there. They probably don’t have a web site. :D

Thanks for the input guys. I'm in SJ now and still no luck figuring out what she was referring to. I've asked chicas, hotel employees, and taxi drivers but no luck. I know in my email to her I made it clear I would be in SJ and where she should look for me but no luck. So I've had to settle for substitutes. If she is going to truly be here for 6 months then I'll have time to work some more contact with her and maybe get back here. Thanks again.

you may try around the post office and further west toward sixth street and the coco cola and mercado bourbon.

There are a ton of hotels there that have taken names from the USA phone books that are flop houses but are often patronized by out of town workers and for them quite safe.

after all...it's their world and we are just passing through
