One of the first statements I read on CRT was "What happens in Costa Rica, stays in Costa Rica." I fully abide by this philosophy. Nobody's business but mine. Unless someone fully understands the Costa Rica lifestyle, an admission to traveling several hours to CR at a rather hefty cost (airfare, hotel, meals, and the ladies) is rather embarassing to admit to. My opinion only. I don't want to go into a detailed explanation of why it is done. So I keep it to myself.

I gave out BM shirts as souvineers to friends and they wore them around alot and then someone told them the bm was the biggest whorehouse in costa rica.

I would only tell guys that are close to me (older brother, best friend of 35 years). I own my own businesses so no problem there but I do have girls that work for me (some latinas, the answer is no before you guys ask) so I do not discuss details of the trip nor log on when they are around. They actually run my stores when I am gone. I wouldn't do anything to jeopardize it. My cooks are from Ecuador and Mexico so they just ask me how was the panocha. WOMEN in general, esp customers who ask about my trip, I just tell them that I had a good time with a couple of lady friends I have down there. I just don't tell them the whole truth (a couple of (hundred) friends (prostitutes). Upon returning from my first trip, my mother starting interrogating me about the rain forest, volcano, beach like the gestapo questioning a British operative. I broke and told her I was only there to have fun with the ladies. Her comment "Meet anybody interesting?". My response "Uhm, yea, actually a few". The way I see it, men pay for sex whether directly (prostitute) or indirectly (girl friend). As far as this website, NO, not a peep. What I do and say about my activities is my business and I share it as I see fit. When it comes to others I do not feel it is any of my business to discuss nor judge another individual. Trust me, there will be many complaints in the line behind me when it comes to judgement day (anybody know a good lawyer). There are pictures here and other peoples lives (many in secret which is the way they want to keep it). I used to be in a fraternity in college where secrecy was numero uno. So, I am like a clam (no reference to a tica, and why are there no bearded ones in CR). I've said my paz.

I never told anything to anyone. It is not safe for me! That is the main reason why I find this board so fascinating and helpful. This is the only venue I have--anonymously--to get out of my chest thoughts and feelings in an honest way.

Have to say that 99 times out of 100 it won't get you anywhere. I follow pretty much the same rules as already stated:

1)Never tell a women, unless it is in a perfectly harm less situation, like once I was in a cigar store on Aruba and there was a hot tall Dutch babe who ran the store and comments on the strip club tshirt I had on, then, it was ok to laugh about mongering as she was cool and truly liberated.
2) Don't tell any bible thumpers, doormat type guys or guys who fancy themselves real ladies men.
3) Don't tell anyone else. Just kidding, tell those guys that might actually listen and stop being such pu*sy whipped wimps.

I never tell people that I am going to CR or what I am doing. I often say I am going away on "business." I am not married so it is a little easier to do. I once saw the father of one of my childhood friends at BM and was shocked, It was right then and there that I decided I would never speak to anyone about what I did or who I saw in CR.

There was one time I was with some buddies who are not hobbiest and I snuck away to ZB for a session and on the plane a guy came up and said, "Dude, remember me/...we met at Zona Blue...damn aren't the girls there awesome?' I was totally embarassed and had to try to explain that I would never do such a thing and that he must be mistaken about who he met.

So a good rule is never acknowledge people away from the setting, you never know who is with them.

Recently, at a family gathering, my college-age niece got wise to my travel destinations and blurted out, "Isn't prostitution legal in all these places you go to?" Family, as previously mentioned, is on my short list of people not to mention this hobby to. She made her statement and all eyes were on me ... I was at a loss of words, just laughed it off saying I was too cheap to pay for sex anyway. Everybody laughed, agreed, and dinner continued.

I need to take a trip to Vatican City to get her off my trail.

Amen to that. I was out of the game for a while, but now i see no point in dating at home. Just save my money for my trip, 5 6 times a year.

I have some good advice for fellow mongers on this issue:

Very few people in this world know how to keep a secret although almost everyone claims they can. I would be incredibly cautious discussing this hobby with anyone. Many new mongers, after their first big trip, are so excited and can't wait to get home and share with their friends. This is almost always a bad idea. There's a gossip in every crowd.
