Todays www.amcostarica.com has a page 1 ad for the White House. They are advertising HALF PRICE rooms which means that you can stay at arguably the one of the most elegant hotels in the SJ area for $100/night plus tax with breakfast included ( the ad says the rate is for single OR DOUBLE occupancy.....not sure if they charge a chica fee) They also have 2 for 1 dinners on Tuesday and Thursday nights in their Capital Grill restaurant with the best view in the area. The only downside is that it is located high in the mountains in escazu, around 30 minutes from downtown SJ.

To find the WH helicopter service, you just have to go to Turrialba, hike past the danger keep out signs, then deep into the jungle. Once on site, convince the Fuerza Publica officers guarding the crashed helicopter that you are really there for a sightseeing tour and hope for the best.

Nope :) When in CR VB, I spend my waking hours baking cookies for you and the chicas. My Jenny Craig franchise has just been approved, the master plan will now go into effect  I was thinking a commercial with you and Karen would be a great start on my ad campaign in SJO :P

I must have missed this story. Wasn't it the owner, Reggie's chopper? Was he in it?

I really like staying there. Hope everyone is OK. They've had some bad luck this year.

They had sold the chopper to a Mexican corporation a little while before the crash. There are some questions as to the legitimacy of the sale in that Brian Frazee, the GM of the White House, is allegedly listed as an officer of the Mexican corporation.

According to the CR press there is little doubt that the helicopter was on a drug run when it crashed.

Probably the 800 pounds of white powder that tipped them off.

It should be $10-$12 flat, maybe $8 "La Maria," and $20 from a taxista trying to screw the rich gringo in the fancy hotel. That is the only thing I don't like about staying there is the distance from the action, and getting back late at night.
