I think we run amuck whenever we chose the weak as an example to say "see, I told you so" which seems to me to be Chi's wont. Yes, people who are prone to failure will fail with regularity. To extrapolate from that that the thing is impossible would be a mistake, in my opinion.

After all, it is the individual involved who decides the success or failure of a venture, how much he wants to invest and when to cash in his chips win or lose. He only comes with the tools he has assembled and if his tools aren't up to the task, he will fail. For us to judge the task based on his attempt is, in my opinion, the wrong conclusion.

No, it just makes for great reading. Its the same reason that people watch soap opera or slow down and turn their head in the direction of an accident and most times there is nothing personal in it. But if there is, the German's even have a special term for it called: schadenfreude; Pleasure derived from the misfortunes of others.

The thread about Rolltide was some of the most dramatic, entertaining and downright funny reading that I ever enjoyed on this board. Moreso because he told everyone, it wouldn't happen to him, then, he is in love, then he got burned. Don't know what happened to PS, but I guess that was what someone wanted to know. Personally, I have sworn off CR as there are places that are a lot more fun. However, since I am stuck out here in the middle of nowhere with not even a cold beer to keep me company, I think it makes for great drama and is very entertaining.

Of course, I could be wrong.... :)

From a pure "this is how and what they posted" standpoint, I don't see a lot of difference between PS and Rolltide. This is how I break it down:

Common things:

1. They both fell in love with HDR chicas on their first trip.
2. They both blew off the board on advice and in some cases became very verbal and confrontational.
3. They both married (or at least I know PS did) their chicas
4. At some point, both were looking for work, to support their bad decision making and lifestyle change.
5. Both were very public and posted details on this board
6. They both got burnt. Rolltide posted his end story and we never heard from PS.

Uncommon things:

1. Rolltide was very brash, flamboyant, and pretty much said "I'm right. You're wrong. She's special and different. Phuck you all."
2. I suspect Rolltide may have been caught up in drugs and probably partying at a dangerous level with these chicas. He talked about buying drugs from them and even alluded to crack. Woahh.... this brings stupidity to a new level. Why wouldn't even buy his junk straight from a drug dealer??? Ofcourse, the girls are going to rip him off.
3. PS has the board backing - or - at least a faction of buddies that come to his defense and are very emotional about it. Pretty much everyone hates Rolltide.... even guys that don't know him. Its like the ultimate bandwagon that everyone jumped on... PS seems to have gotten a different kind of bandwagon... which I still don't understand.

So, I see six things in common and three things NOT in common. I'm not saying their situations are EXACTLY equal at all - but there is certainly a similar theme.

BB57 has really flamed on me directly and pointedly for pretty much all my posting. Has even taken it personal with me. Others like Pac55 and a few have just shown disagreement and ____________ (fill in the blank) because they dont' like how my version of reality sits on their version of fantasy. Or, they feel I'm pissing on PS's bandwagon... which I'm not.

To all - I really don't care what you think of me. This is a public information board. We have contrastring opinions. What do you expect?

Appears to be pretty much “spot on”. To get involved that quick with a working girl in my opinion is STUPID!

No, we didn't back him. We told him he was a phucking moron to his face unlike you who can't seem to let it go and want to keep dredging up old shit. You seem to think you are the only one that has woken up and seen the light with dating hookers. Hate to break it to you, but others learn as well. They realized that phucked up and moved on. You just can't seem to get this through your head. Again, if you want to know how Pro is doing he's not that hard to contact considering he lives in CR and makes himself available to members of the board. You don't know what went down, how things finished, and where the situation is at now. So why don't you quit posting about shit thats a year old and move on like the rest of us. Or why don't you man up and make an effort to reach out to Pro and find out what his situation is. Otherwise, quit standing on your soapbox and give it a rest because you aren't any better or worse than the rest of us who have made mistakes and learned from them.

TITS have always been known to block the view of reality. This popular thread points it out. http://www.costaricaticas.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=14468&highlight=smell+coffee Over 32,000 views and 360 posts. Generally, there are more than 2 bandwagons.... 1) those that have a clue, 2) those that don't and 3) those who can't find their ass with both hands and a map.

Mi amigo - I have meditated on this subject. Often times, I am overcome by a huge wall of denial. When I ask Buddah for help, he doesn't answer.

Honestly - the more time I spend in CR and the more time I spend AWAY from the gulch, THE MORE RIDICULOUS this whole section seems. The girls aren't stupid. They are just playing on our egos. Why? Because, it is so obvious. Our egos are gigantic. Americans flying down to CR with lots of money. Poorer chicas are doing absolutely ANYTHING REQUIRED to EXTRACT that money from you. Phucking for $100 is nothing anymore. Now, its like drug him - or - marry him and sack all of his money. They are getting more greedy and we are getting dumber.

You are like the vast majority of expats. Most not only do not go to the gulch they avoid San Jose entirely except when there is no other option to find some good or service you need.

Once you live here awhile you find EVERYTHING you need is available locally. :D

When I used to live in SJ, I actually got depressed by going to the gulch more than once a week or so.

That was not what started the thread. The start was the observation that guys who have novias who are hookers seem to post at the start of the relationship when things are going good but when things start going south, if in fact they do, they do not post that info. The poster asked for follow up on how the relationship was going.

'm especially curious about some of the outspoken Novios that are touting dating hookers as being a "good idea." We haven't heard form you'all in a while. Its seems that guys are always happy to post when things are good, but rarely post when things get really bad. I totally understand this... but give us something back!!!!

Thanks, Mr. D. The quotation marks confused me. I thought he was implying it's not a good idea.
