I agree wholeheartedly with the above. I believe the point that you get to control the night the way that you desire. If you go into a place that your wingman recommends but you do not like, you put up with it. A paid tour guide will move on to the next place for you with no problem.

Better yet, you have someone that will act as a form of a bodyguard for you and get you out of any situations that you may get yourself into. I would definitely use his service and I have been to CR many times.

Have a Great Day,

Dave

I think Pops service is exactly the sort of thing to allow you to hit CR running. For a first time visitor it is perfect. Even if you have read a lot on this board you are prone to make stupid errors that you then have to chalk up to experience. Why not minimize these errors and get useful advice as well ?

Hoping to meet compatible mongers at the SL could be hit or miss. I once met two guys who seemed really friendly and I spent the whole evening with them and we even had dinner at Cafe Mundo. We decided to meet the next day and go to San Pedro, Idem and so on but the next morning they left a note at the SL front desk saying they were off somewhere and I was on my own. I saw them at the SL bar that evening but they were cold and unfriendly, the message I got was "get lost".

What I did to piss them off I cannot imagine for the life of me (I do not get drunk) and I had paid my share of the evenings festivities. Luckily I am a loner and my trips to CR do not require company to be successful but a service like Pops could have been of use to me especially at night.

My next trip down I will be a CRT VIP and will certainly use his services.

If you are a self professed loner, then maybe that's the vibe you give around company. I wouldn't take their cold shoulder personal. There's always guys that will mesh together and others that won't.

I booked a tour for my brother and he was very satisfied and we made a friend for life. Pops does bring a different perspective and I felt that I could trust my brother well being to him for an afternoon. I would recommend for a new newbie or group of newbies that want a quick lowdown of our thing.

Question - does Pops do the show and tell only during the day or also at night? I have been in CR several times, but never visited a night club (they are mostly in shady places). I plan to go in July/Aug. so the timing is very good!

Pops is up for day and evening fun. The latest he ever hung out with us was 11 PM. You should contact him directly regarding night tours.

I've never used Pops service, but I can see it being useful. Some of the guys are rough on someone using a guide, but that's just absurd. If you're shy, don't know Spanish, and never done some traveling, it's extremely useful. If there was a Pops in China or Russia, I would use him for $30. He's probably a good guy and I hope I meet him next week so I can buy him a drink!

Is Pops a member still on CRT. I left and email for him but his site states that I should also PM him.

Probably a dumb question, but how do you go about PMing Pops? I looked on the memberlist, but short of going through 893 member names, I couldn't figure out how to do it. Thank you,
