Okay, I have a red eye flight from LAX. Just curious as to how people spend their time so early when you can't check in and all of our favorite places are closed.

When that happened to me, I stored my bag at my hotel (was the Presidente at the time), went to the Del Rey, and found a cutie and took her to the oh so romantic Hotel Asia. Eden or The Office are better love motels, of course. Eden rents for 12 hours, so that gives you plenty time to to play, and check in when you can.

By the time you clear customs and ride into town it will be closer to 7:00 than 5:00. I would head to the Sportsman's Lodge. They make a good breakfast and coffee is available from a big urn in the Courtyard. It is mellow, quiet and you will get an opportunity to meet other mongers and a few early morning de-wooders.

The Hotel del Rey is another choice or the Del Mar restaurant across the street. Both will be open when you arrive.

If this is a first trip I would go with Sportsman's and concentrate on meeting some of the guys who will be partying in San Jose while you are here. Often these guys are on their umpteenth trip and they will be happy to share the "dos and don'ts". I'll be in around 8:00pm tonight. If you want data on the lovelies, look me up.

Where are you staying? Some hotels will give you an early check in, just ask.
