Phuck that Matt, you to nice of a guy. If it was up to me, I would change the room number of your cheapest, noisiest, room you got to 202 just between the days of his stay and charge his credit card double the rate. Let’s see how it feels slumming it. :P :P :P :P :P

Is this still the permit for operating near a hospital you're waiting for, or some new Tico red tape? :D

Youse guys--I don't know--this is the funniest exchange presented here in a while. And hey, guys--no bar=no Asta running the bar. We're all pulling for you Brother Mkink. Bring down McNulty from "The Wire"--he'll get it staightened out double-quick.

Good luck Matt. Please let us all know when everything is in order. I got a feelin' that the new bar will be extremely "popular" !!! I'm looking forward to the opening.

Matt,

Thanks, for the invite to check your place out. I made it over to La Amistad last Saturday, April 4th. I was blown away by all the improvements since my last stay at the hotel during the summer of 2007. Rudy was a gracious host and gave me a tour of the place.

I look forward to booking a reservation at La Amistad when I return to SJO next year.

Peace,

Just got back from a 3 night stay at Amistad. This is an excellent place to stay. Matt was a great host and the rooms were clean and it was nice and quiet. The bar is ready to open and that will be a nice touch. They had rooms of all sizes and shapes. I had a nice queen room for $70 a night before the CRT discount. The suites were big and will book one the next trip. They have a decent free breakfast. One of the things I liked is that they do not nickle and dime you to death. Laundry was free (Tips only) and no charges to bring in a chica. Free internet including wireless access in the rooms as well as a hard wire connection.

It is a short walk to SL and New Fantasy. We even had a short walk to the DR during the afternoon. Matt printed off the latest map for us and his advice was spot on on all of the places I had not been to on my other trips. I can't wait to come back and will for sure stay there again.

For anyone who's stayed in a deluxe queen room: are any room #s, floors, etc better than others as far as outside widows, noise, etc?

I just stayed in #306, queen room, has a large window overlooking the street by the entrance area, you can see the railroad crossing.

The new bar is great.I stopped in last Wednesday thinking I was going to have a quiet drink but found the grand opening party. The new rooms with jacuzzi tubs and sauna are awesome. If you are looking for high class, low profile you will not go wrong with the Armistad.
