I just spent about 8 days at the SL in December and they have very capable laundry service. Nothing wrong with pricing either. I gave the cleaning lady my load (laundry load that is.. ) in the morning and everything was back to me in the afternoon. Perfectly fine.

Ist trip stayed at SL. Schlepped a checked bag. Sucked. Saw that they did laundry at the SL
2nd trip, carry on only. So much easier. Laundry a bit pricy, yes did I care ? NO NO NO Just the ease of not having to do the checked baggage ?
Priceless
YMMV
Bill runs a class act, ya can't afford laundry, well pack a 2nd bag SHEESH

MG -

First this is NOT an attack on Bill. It is a statement that his prices for laundry are too high. It is not an attack on his place or his any other part of his operation. As far as big John is concerned, the girls there are NOT his employees and he could care less if they charge $30 or $300. He is not a factor for their prices - high, low, or otherwise. The people who do the laundry at SL are Bill's employees and good ones at that. Merely because I say his prices are very high for laundry, does NOT in any way denigrate his other services nor his business. One can say this is an excellent place to stay without having to agree that every facet is perfect. If you read any of my early TR's, you will see that I highly praise Bill, indeed I wrote the first or very close to it, report on SL on CRT.

Convenience is fine, but for me, not at that price. Think of all the trip reports, reports on chicas, both of which many times recommend that you do NOT buy a drink first until things are worked out first. Compared to what we spend, what's 4 or 5 or even 10 dollars for a few drinks for the ladies. I maintain not very much if compared to the whole trip. Why worry about it then? Well its just that we don't want to spend overly much for chicas, if we don't have to. i look at it no more than that. Why spend more for laundry if you don't have to? To me, it's a comment on my observations. No more and no less.

Well....not to claim jump....but the laundry services at Hotel La Amistad are beyond FABULOUS. BEYOND. There is NO CHARGE....tip the lady.....be fair....but give the clothing to one of the ladies in the AM and you've got everything back in the afternoon. I suspect if you're a high roller and give 'em a lot of money they'd probably be done before the towells!! :P

At SL laundry is done quickly and well. I did not think the prices were excessive, but then again I never stay in a less that 4 star hotel in the states and the prices are up there  SL is no where near that and I would rather stay there than any hotel is the States 8)

Hello Gentlemen,

This is the first I have read or heard of high laundry prices. We will review the price list and make some changes if I see some excessive prices.

Every single room has been remodeled since the Lodge has opened, in some cases twice. We will inspect each room again to check for deep cleaning issues. We have never fired a maid for pressing shirts or any other item for our guests.

Thanks for the heads up on these issues.

Bill

Bill, thanks for answering my concerns. I am only sorry that I went off half-cocked on this one. As I wrote above, whoever read the list to me last year read it absolutely wrong. I was qquoted among other things, $2.00/pair socks and $4.00 dress shirts. These prices would be in accordance with my last use of a valet service at a Renaissance property in Amsterdam.... but is not the true price shown on your price list.

As always, you responded quickly, addressed the issue with class and courtesy, and didn't call some of us boneheaded as$holes,...which you very well could have! Thanks again.

Looking forward to seeing you Aug. 24 - September 9. :D

Cheers,

Paul
