I recently ran across the web site for this hotel. Looks very nice; pool and other amenities, and reasonably priced. A bit far from the gulch being near parque Sabana, but with cheap cabs, seems a viable option.

Anyone had any experience with this hotel (chica friendly/not friendly)?

Thanks

I stayed there a few years back. It was nice...had a pool and a kitchen, off he main street so it was quiet. But far from the gulch, which offset the other advantages, and I regretted staying there for that reason. Chica freindly and no fee, but I would rather be closer.

Lot's of other places of similar quality closer to the gulch where you'd feel more comfortable if mongering.

I stay there all the time but rarely monger, have a regular in SJ.

They won't charge you a fee, but you'll get the look from the night manager (they lock the front door at 10pm) and you will be told in no uncertain terms by the boss the next day "don't do this--family--biz oriented place, don't want it", and I am a very well liked regular--bring them stuff from the states, handled some minor legal issues for the owners.

Also, the place is super quiet and the rooms have those roll windows so any late night noise above the usual is very noticeable by the very laid back clientele and by the night staff. So, if you're the type to hoot and holler which is fine, it's going to be noticed and addressed.

Thanks Guys,

I guess I'll stick to the Castillo. I'd miss the colorful mongers at a straight laced hotel.
