It DOES remind me of a tomb. Nice hotel, though.

I doubt you will ever sneak a chica in. Their security is pretty tight.

Personally, I would rather take CRT discount at La Amistad or Dunn Inn and be closer to the action. Although, it would be kinda cool to have some screamer reverberating through the tomb's lobby. "Mommy, is that a howler monkey?"

It's a Howler alright, but that ain't no monkey....

  staying in be bed screaming OH God :!: :!: doesn't constitute going to church :!:  :!:

Maybe we could have the CRT Convention there.
We could call it: Rock the Tomb
Who would be in charge of 'entertainment'?

Thanks for the intel. This gives me a pretty good idea of what to expect from this place. More info than I could ever get from Tripadvisor

Welcome to the board Gordob,

Using Priority Club points this hotel is on sale for only 5000 points per night which is about as low as it gets. You also get free shuttle to and from the airport. If I can get the free breakfast and sneak chicas in, then it will get my personal 5 star rating.

It's a great deal, even if you buy the points instead of earning them, it's as cheap as $57.50 per 5,000 points (1 night). You should get the buffet, I did in Bucharest at the Intercontinental when me and my wingman shared a room (and back then 5,000 points was only $50, I'm pretty sure the buffet for two cost more than that if purchased). I posted about this deal a little whle back, see:
http://costaricaticas.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=287199&sid=1c6d75784ae1a82ea9ab2c36fab36c0e#287199

However, even though the deal expires 5/31, the hotel is no longer showing as participating on the Point Break Promotion page, see:
http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/pc/1/en/c/1/content/dec/pc/0/en/points/us/hre/pointbreaks/csamerica.html?rateCode=IVANI

How long ago did you book?

I didn't know about the free R/T airport shuttle. That makes the hotel an incredible deal, w/ breakfast (particularly for two) it would pay for itself even if you bought the points. Bucharest advertised an airport shuttle, but they charged more than cab fare for the service. When you get back please update us with details on the breakfast, shuttle, and chica fee.

True, very true. Become a member and you'll also appreciate the discounts around town and the VIP map.

Yep, $55 is it. I was just there recently. Maybe make friends with the doorman before you leave out for the night and then walk in like your Tica checked in with you. The door man is right in front of the check in desk. When they charged me, I tried every trick in the book to get waived or reduced and they wouldn't budge.

And they even charge internet fees which I abhor($10 daily).

Also, there is a good place for beef, I forgot the name but it is in Sabana and very well known in SJ, always packed.

Watch out for the taxis. The one in the hotel driveway all overcharge. It is best to walk to the side street and hail one down. The guy at the hotel wanted to charge me $10 to DR.

You should just change hotels.

PURA VIDA!

I just called the Corobici and they have a $50 guest fee. Free airport shuttle. No free breakfast.

Any chance you could get the chica in through the casino? I've done that trick at the Aurola where I said we're going to the casino.

There are multiple security personel there.
They are very good at what they do. There are cameras all over that place too. If you make to the elevators don't be surprised that when the door opens and a security guard is standing there. Then he'll escort you back down to the front desk to check your chica in.

They are pleasant about it and insist it's for the Hotel's security as well as yours.

Your best bet is to come in side entrance by the parking lot. Have the taxi drop you off there. Then you go in first, solo, and push the elevator call button. Have your chica wait outside until the elevator door opens. Then as your inside the elevator holding the door open button have your chica quickly and quietly walk straight into the elevator. The noise that high heals make on that marble floor are a dead give away.

I had one chica who thought this cat and mouse game with security was a blast.
Another who called me cheap  . She apoligized when I said she could pay the chica fee out of her pocket. Of course we got snagged by security and she was outraged when she confirmed with front desk that it was $50. She told me later that she didn't really believe me when I told her it was an additional $50 for guest.

One reason the Chicas will be reluctant to try and sneak in, is they have been told they will be banned from the hotel if they get caught.

The restaurant is El Chicote. It is about 600 meters west of the hotel on Boulevar Los Americas which is the street on the north side of Sabana Park.

Excellent not only for beef but also have some good seafood.

It's starting to sound like mission impossible. In some ways it doesn't surprise me because The Crowne Plaza in Monterrey is almost impossible too. I've managed to sneak chicas into the Aurola many times so I thought I could do it at this place. Oh well, I'll just budget the $50/night and move on.

Thanks for all the intel.

You're better off taking her to Motel Eden...

You'll have a better time, and you don't have to worry about your valuables...

Also, it's only 15k colones, about $27...
