All right bros. it is time to see where the best ceviche is. My favorite is the side walk place next to Pantara Rosa. They also have a killer fried corvina.

My favorite ceviche in CR is to take a cab to the Juan Santa Maria airport and fly to Lima for ceviche in all of it's glorious forms.

I was on the ceviche tour of 2009. The absolute best that I had was at a small soda on a back road on the way to Jaco. I don't remember the name of the place but could easily drive you there. It was Marlin ceviche and all I can say is it was awesome. None of the others even came close to matching it. I had ceviche up and down both coast and all in between. Many were great but no match to that little soda. In San Jose the ceviche at Soda Peru was good. Made with red onions. Very tastey. If you have some other suggestions, I'm back in SJO next week and would like to try them.

Thanks in advance for sharing...

The Machu Picchu Restaurant used to have some really good ceviche. They had cerveza Cusquena and Inca Kola too! I haven't been there for a few years so I don't know if it's still around.

I'm a big ceviche eater when I'm in Costa Rica. I love the Princessa Marina ceviche de pescado (no shrimp, just fish). The portions are a bit small so I usually eat 2, sometimes 3.

I absolutely hate the ceviche at Soda Peru. I think I just don't like Peruvian-style ceviche (whatever that is) because there's a Peruvian place where I used to live and their ceviche sucks too.

Del Mar Restaurant (next to Del Rey) has an awesome ceviche too. It's a big portion for like $7-8. In Guanacaste, the Happy Snapper in Brasilito has awesome ceviche.

You guys are nutz...

CR has some of the worst seafood in the world... I don't know why, considering it has 2 coasts, and TONS of coastline, but there it is...

For truly great Ceviche, go to Mexico, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Spain...

But that's just MO.

Or better yet - go fishing and make your own ceviche on the boat! Doesn't get fresher than that!

I know CrackerAss doesn't want to use the original thread because that thread "is over a year old", however these are rollover threads, they're exactly the same. Don't be afraid to use them, they haven't expired. He should be grateful some Asses don't have any threads at all.

I am assuming we are talking Costa Rica. :?
IMHO:
1. Hotel Ojala, Drake Bay. You sure as hell won't get it any fresher on land.
2. Soda next to La Ponderosa, in Pavones. A Peruvian lady makes the bomb.
3. Machu Picchu. I know some of you will disagree, but when it is on it is hard to beat.
