They changed management, remodeled and upgraded the rooms and increased the prices. I stayed there many time and always got a rate of $30. a night including taxes and breakfast. I heard that they are chica tolerant now but the room rate is about $70.00.

I think they saw how successfully the Grand hotel Costa Rica became and decided it was easier and more profitable to emulate that business model.

El Patio's prices are indeed much higher now. Pacoloco reported their burger was 1,750 colones when they opened (I think a little over 2 years ago), the price now is 5,400 colones. I wanted to ask for the non-gringo ripoff menu. That's 3X what it used to be. I won't be back.

I'd heard they jacked up the prices but that's outrageous, if I want a 10.00 burger I'll go to the airport.
