LV Steve had a good point I often use San Jose as a travel base so I can have both mongering oportunities as well as see the country. However if you do a bit of exploring there are mongering opportunities to be found out of San Jose.I talked to a fellow resident at Vista Linda who had traveled around various parts of the and he found some kind of action almost everywhere he went.rbc100

Thanks to all of you who took the time to respond to my initial request. As expected you came through with some very well thought provoking answers and I will most assuredly follow the concensus of your advice.

My son will still come (can't very well tell him NOT to without giving him a reason why) but we will spend 5-6 days exploring at Arenal and the Oso Peninsula.

Thanks again. Sorry to have caused a little minor dissention in the ranks with my question.

Pura vida,

Jose

I got an e-mail a few days ago from a middle aged women who is a friend of one of my clients. She's going to CR for the 1st time and asked me some questions about a few Parque Nacionals such as - Manuel Antonio, Braulio Carrillo & Corcovado.

But I think I could save her alot of time and money suggesting she instead visit #8 on the list---- La Sabana Parque. It has grass and trees and it's not far from the Central Market.

Yes there are day trips from SJ & it is used as a travel base (perhaps for a night) NOT a travel destination.

Jose, the Osa is one of my favorite places in all of CR. You will love it. If you can, try to visit a place called " Bosque del Cabo". The rates have gone way up since it has been discovered but it is an excellent eco lodge with cabins overlooking the Pacific.
