Oh oh. Does this mean we all need to take cabs to Cafe Mundo so as to avoid any chance of "attack"? I always would walk there from Hotel Castillo or Amistad.....but maybe I need to be taking a cab...... :P

Getting this back on track. Normally eat there 3-4 days times 2. So at least 6-8 meals without any issue and I love the food and atmosphere.

It seems to me that a large percentage of US resturants are gay owned and operated. Why would anyone care in CR? I believe TinJo is oreintal owned. As far as Olio,I love the place it is usually full of nice young chica students to look at. The food is good as well.

When you guys mention "gay". Are you talking about the "happy gay" or the "bentwrist gay"?

You walk down toward Ave 9 from the Sportsmen, then hang a left. You will find it in the corner. Intersection of Ave 9 and Calle 15.

It looks like a big house with veranda on the corner on the left where the sidewalk curves. There is no visible sign that I can remember.

I admit to a low tolerance for full-on "Screaming Queen" or obvious S & M places so I don't go there. But a "gay restaurant" where everybody is in the same mode of dress as I (though ususally a bit more tastefully)? No problem so yes bentwrist gay, Brother 50Strokes.
One of my jobs long ago was busman in the best restaurant in Milwaukee, and 90% of the staff and perhaps 30% of the patrons were gay. BFD and assuredly saw no soliciting on anybody's part going on--maybe some mild flirtation between men that knew each other but nothing obvious to the casual observer.

Jazzbo, I would say that your description fits Cafe Mundo too. I always see mostly M-F couples and groups, families too. If you think about it, I wonder what the other patrons thing about a group of 4 to 10 male gringos? Many may think that they are gay if they didn't know that they all came from HDR or SL! :shock: :lol:

as far as the gay thing, man if you haven't noticed that in san jose you are blind. its everywhere, from the lobby of amistad to the beachs of MA. the gay crowd is present and accounted for. no problem w me since i get along with them pretty well.
all but the militant dykes anyway.

I had lunch at Mundo the other day. Pizza was good and my chica had a Wisconsin Bratwaurst. After that she had the Chicken Soup.
