I'm trying to decide between these two. What are the pros/cons of both?

So far...SL has a gym. But Amistad has a hot breafast.

Also, I heard that at SL, you are kind of put on display when you bring a girl back(from another hotel/MP) because you have to take her through the bar to get to your room.

HDR is another option, since it is my first time in CR and I don't speak spanish.

But from what I've read HDR, other than the convenience factor, is a rip off.

SL, then La Amistad. Get a room in the New Wing or the Mansion Wing.

There is no "walk of shame" at the SL. We are all there for the same thing and the "Church Lady" don't go there. On the other hand, you might run into her at the breakfast table at La Amistad, "Oh look who joined us, and what is your name....SATAN!".

I digress, Sportsman's is a great soft landing. La Amistad is a good place when you can't get a room at SL or you don't want to spend as much coin. One other thing: It is currently POURING RAIN. If you were staying at La Amistad and found your next ex on the hoof at Sportsman's you would be guaranteed that she would be sopping before she got to the cama!

ct100 – You going to hear different opinions in why somebody likes the SL versus La Amistad and viceversa. To me is a simple decision as this, I like to sleep when I want to sleep and is nice to stay away from poon and mongers a few hours a day chillin. The SL, HDR, and HLH got too much of both 24X7. But if you like to party and be surrounded by poon all day, SL is your place.

Stayed in the Mansion at SL in FEB and It's worth every penny!
SL is alot of fun. It's so nice to wake up and find women ready and willing to help with your morning woody. There's always the morning shift Chicas hanging out at SL.

Amistad is my backup when SL is full. Amistad has no bar, no restaurant and no chicas hanging around. So you'll be walking down the block to the SL for drinks, food and Girls. Amistad has some nice suites at good prices.

Make sure you are a CRT VIP! Both give discounts to CRT.

Breakfast overrated at Amistad.
The Amistad has free breakfast. However you get what you pay for. You'll have to hunt down one of the maids to get your hot food. Eggs with ham, rice and beans or pancakes. Self serve toast, coffee, and fruit.

SL has a much better breakfast. Reasonable prices, great service, and a good variety.

Plane, that wasn't my experience a few weeks ago. The front desk guy, always forget his name, comes to take your order and you get it pretty quickly. I found both the food and the service to be very good. Plus you can count the steps to Cafe Mundo, if you get tired of Amistad breakfast.

I love both places. They both feel like home while you are there. I think I will be going back to Amistad for LD. Mostly becaused I am like Josie, I lik a little time away from the bar or chicas.

Pac, when was the last time you stay either at the SL or La Amistad? I know you are trying to help but shouldn’t the guys that actually partake on the accommodations should have a better insight to it? I think that many of us will take La Amistad anyday before we bother with SL. Just not the cup of tea for many of us.

JOsie, I am in both places several times a week. I talked with the owners of both in the last two days. I doubt that I have lost touch with reality.

Pac, not talking about walking into the place but actually spending the night on either one. I think that the original poster wants to know the difference between the SL and La Amistad. I think that we can help him by giving him relevant information from people that have actually use the hotels. He doesn’t care if you or I knows the owners or not.

I posted a trip advisor report on ...well...TripAdvisor. I was not paid to write the report; I got no discounts at Amistad for writing the report; I got no specials of any sort. It is 100% unbiased. Here is the link to the review:

http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserRevi ... _Jose.html and for that matter, why not read the rest of the reviews about Amistad??

I typically do not eat breakfast when about the USA. However, when in Costa Rica, I do eat the breakfast. I am one of the first to eat, too. I've never had a problem getting exactly what I wanted nor was there ever a delay in "taking my order". The fruit, bread for toast making, toasters, coffee and juices are all out in public view. If one of the staff do not come to take your breakfast order, just walk up to the reception desk and they'll bend over backwards to get your order in.

Amistad is different than SL and, for me, better. Soon it will be even better once the bar is operating.

I do not believe there is a single review of SL on TripAdvisor, but is discussed in the forum here: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g3 ... _Jose.html

When I travel for pleasure, I do so for more than a couple of days at a time. I have made two reservations to stay at the SL, but was advised each time I would have to move/switch rooms during the course of my stay. I don't like to move once I'm settled. That's my primary reason for never having stayed at the SL....I ain't gonna move once I'm in a room unless there is a problem with the room.

My stay at Amistad was uninterrupted and that was 2 solid weeks in the same room which is very important for me due to the telecommunications/HF/UHF post I establish in the room. That's just me.

I think ct100 was just trying to get an opinion, can’t Pac55 give his? The poster will probably read all posts and then make his decision. Why the attitude?

Golly, don’t know, maybe is because some of us don’t like people shitting were we eat? Just like we do not go out of our way to put down the SL, we appreciated if the information given is correct for those staying at La Amistad.

I think that lately 100% of all reports are excellent for La Amistad, from those that actually have stay at La Amistad. Not quite the same for the rest of the hotels. My $.02.

I didn’t see it as that way; I read it as an opinion from experience. Maybe someone is being over sensitive.

I'm not sure about the walk of shame!!!

On one of my trips to CR was during football bowl season. There were four super hot young ladies sitting at the table right below the big screen in the bar. They were somewhat confused because no one was even paying attention to them.

I was up and around talking to several people in the bar, and Bill saw I wasn't particualarily interested in the games, and he told me that all four were solid performers. He suggested that I take one. So I grab the hottest, IMHO, and off we go to El Rey. Fortunately it was a very good session because I would have tied her up if it was under an hour. I can guarantee you that every swinging d*ck watching the game in the bar knew when I took her (she was very pretty), and when she returned to her seat under the big screen.

It really does seem that way and what's worse is how obvious it is. I'm sure JOsie is a great guy but a bit derisive lately.

Now I know I'm going to get the "homo police" called on me by him, but prior to Pac moving to CR, if I had to guess he's got prolly 100-150 nights slept at the SL, not to mention being a frequent patron there.

Just giving opinions JOsie just like when you said;

Now someone like me is never going to believe more members prefer LA over SL and I think I share that sentiment with many on this board. But that's your opinion, and that's what the original poster wants to know.

And I also promise not to call the homo police if anyone backs up one of your threads. :P

It's all good bro, maybe you should take another trip soon. We want the old JOsie back :D
