Ding Dong,

Yes I have seen tourists in SJ and i'm well aware of the National Theatre which is the only building in SJ worth taking a picture of. The question I have for you is.......given the abundance of natural beauty in CR in terms of wild life, jungle exploration, national parks, white water rafting, beautiful beaches, world class surfing, birding, etc.....the question I have for you is this -

Would you honestly recommend to a neighbor, friend, business associate, client, etc.. (assuming they are non mongers) that they spend time in SJ? Personally I never would, but if you think SJ is a city worth vacationing in that's cool. I think most tourists are just killing a day waiting for their flight to paradise or have booked a package tour and have no choice.

I always ask myself if there were no putas in SJ would I be there and it is a definate no for me. I certainly would and have visited and stayed in most other parts of this beautiful country.

I have to agree there are very few tourist oportunities in San Jose but the are immense throughout the country.I definitely spent many of my days on day trips out of San Jose even when I am staying there becuase the counrty has so much to offer.Bringing my son down to Costa Rica was just a thought didn't say I was going to do it but I think he has a fairly good idea what I do.I however do far more than mongering and undertake lots of tourist activities which I think he might enjoy.I do appreciate everyones input as my thoughts are mixed about it.I do wish I had known more at an earlier age.rbc100

Amigo, given that there is no answer. You are not turned off by San Jose you are turned off by the entire country. Your objective is Putas, how sad.
There is so much more to San Jose and the country then Putas.

Ding Dong,

You could not be further from the truth. You missed the whole point of my post which was on SJ. On my 1st trip to CR I did not even know putas existed in CR and never heard of DR or KL. I'm into eco travel my friend. I've stayed at jungle resorts in the Osa with no electricity several times. After 25 trips and seeing pretty much the whole country please don't tell me I don't like CR. I purchased property in CR. Let me know if you need tourist info...i'll be glad to provide it. I won't however recommend to non-mongers spending time in SJ when almost 1/3 of CR is filled with Parque Nacionals and wildlife perserves to explore. You can recommend SJ to as many non-mongers as you like. Everyone sees cities differently....I prefer a city such as Vancouver as a tourist place but that's what makes the world go round.

San Jose is definitely not the highlight of Cosat Rica from a tourist perspective.I have traveled all over the county but still have much to see.The only reason to stay in San Jose is the mongering opportunities and maybe a day but more likely less quality tourist attactions in the city. However throught the country oportuninties are are among the best for most travel destinations around the world. The country is also fairly safe compared to San Jose in most areas maybe with exception of Limon. The people are very freindly and helpful all and all outside the city is a wonderful tourist experience .rbc100

CRM,
Excuse me, if I missed the point of your posts it is only because I read what you wrote.

RBC 100, glad you see it my way! Just can't imagine a non-mongering vacation in SJ when paradise exists just outside the city limits.

Ding Dong,

OK you win!!! Please list all the wonderful worthwhile San Jose sites that people should travel from around the world to see. I'm sorry I don't live in SJ perhaps if I did I would realize that waterfalls and volcanoes are a silly waste of time.

Lets review what you have so far:

1. National Theater

Please enlighten us....

Thanks for your knowledge

I'm actually rolling on the floor laughing at this list. Tell me, do you provide the masks to wear to help mask the stench from the Marcado Central. It's usually a combination odor of puke and fish. I'm glad to see that a cultured guy like you puts it up there on his CR don't miss list.

You most definately have a strange way of promoting CR but please don't apply for work at the ICT (CR Tourism). Thanks for teaching me the culture of CR. I'm sure board members will cancel their eco tours & beach plans and head for the Post Office Museum. You have now convinced me with your list that I have visited all the wrong places and all the travel books are wrong too.

Pura Vida!

In addition to the great places Ding Dong listed, there is another thing that is good about SJ. If you use it as a base, you can take many day tours from SJ to the volcanos, butterfly farm, river rafting and beaches to name a few.
In addition, there are many fine resturants with excellent food and service that await your taste buds. Living here (for me) is great, every day, I discover new and exciting things to do.
LVSteve
PS: Just sitting in the park and soaking up some rays can also be very enjoyable.
