For the last 4 years I have stayed there in April and in Nov. I was there during the remodel.. Great staff, secure, chica friendly and rooms are ok. The restraunt is good. I will be there in late April.

Seems like a nice spot. Only thing I don't like is that it is at the far end of the strip. A hell of a hike from the BB. Therefore, I love the Copa. But, for strictly the accomodations, it seems fine. Casino, pool, restaurant and right on the beach.

I stayed at the copa in December, I think the rates are way higher than the quality. The copa is in need of a serious remodel if that is what they want to charge. I think their suites are 159.00 a night minus the bogus crt discount that anyone can get if they register for the "VIP CLUB". My room there was not up to par, frig barely worked , bed 10 years old and outdated kithen and bath. They also tryed to double bill the first night. other than that nice staff, pool and food.

Mark, sorry for your experience. I've never had any problems with the place other than a refrig that barely worked. It's so close to the BB and the beach that I can't resist the place. It's been almost 2 years since I've been there so, I can't vouch for the nightly rate at this time. Although I have heard the price has went up.

I started staying regularly at the Cocal in 2001 and stayed there again last month. Poolside room $125, including tax and breakfast, in Feb. I think you might negotiate that down a lot now. Very chica friendly, in fact there were a couple working girls at the pool bar most nights.

They have recently upgraded rooms near the parking lot that are a little more, but I like the pool side rooms.

Pool bar is great for meeting people. Casino is right there, plus the beach and two pools.

Free wireless, but not in the rooms or poolside - only near the entrance, with a nice table. They also had a pay internet computer, but it didn't look too friendly.

BB is far, but Mas x Menos grocery store and the bank/ATM are close. So is Pancho Villa Rest/Bar and the strip club upstairs, which is the only strip club I would go to in Jaco.

I stayed at the Cocal in December in one of the Condos out back. It was a great place and they negoiated the price way down. My wingman and I ended up in a 3 BR/3 BA condo with 4 balconies that was extremely well decorated for $200 a night! Great place, includes breakfast, on the beach, and casino. Cab ride for four back from the BB was on $2 and no fees.

Cocal has a nice pool and a casino, and the location is pretty good. The restaurant has some excellent food. It's a nice place, but along with the rest of Jaco, way overpriced during the tourist season. It's not worth anywhere near $125+ . You can get a poolside room for $70 off-season, which is a decent rate.
