Best Business Hotel in San Jose is without a doubt is the Barcelo Palacio Hotel and Casino.

Palacio = Palace

The 5th and 6th floors are executive levels with access restricted.

The executive levels have a concierge room with FREE alcohol from 5pm to 9pm. The concierge room has juice, water, coffee and bocas/snacks etc. available all day long as well.

The presidential suites there are very large. 2 bedrooms each with their own marble bathrooms. Separate Office with computer. Dining room with large table. 2 large leather couches in the living room. Balcony with a view. 3 separate central ac units for perfect climate control. Fully stocked wetbar with premium alcohol.

The breakfast buffet is incredible and is generally included with any room.

I've stayed at the Crowne Plaza it's ok, but no where near as nice as the Palacio.

The Palacio allows Chicas but they will hold on to the Chica's ID while they visit and charge a $30 fee.

The Palacio also has live Latin music on weekends though doubtless the more polite varieties. At $30 a pop, they obviously expect guests to bring in only high-class hookers, and probably not wearing "hookerwear" either.

Did you think of the Radisson Europa Hotel and Conference Center?

I have been there for conferences but have no idea about their visitor policy.

It is relavitely secluded yet very close to downtown. It is north of and a very short taxi ride from the Gulch.

If you know the area, it is up the hill from ULACIT University and to the west of the gold colored RECOPE tower. It is behind the Republica Newspaper office.

Another way to think of it is follow Calle 3 to the beginning of the Limon Highway. There will be a traffic signal. Turn left and go 25 meters, the entrance to the hotel is on your right.

Not to slam Brother DiegoC's recommendation, but be aware that the Radisson is, according to their Website, undergoing a full remodeling until 30 April 2009. Their swimming pool is unavailable and you can expect construction noise. Just saying...

According to the construction schedule, posted on their website, the pool should now be open.

While all this recent discussion will be helpful to folks in the future I am sure Elmedicobueno, the original poster, has solved his problem. The thread was started last summer.

I was there last week and I would say this hotel is 90% CRT. But I would like to think of myself as an Eco tourists

I had some time to kill between appointments so I stopped by the Radisson. It is nicer than I remember.

It is under construction but most of the rooms are available. The pool was only partially full – about ¾ full. All of the other aspects of the hotel were in full operations: front desk, restaurants, gift shops, convention center.
