She is an amazing woman. As you know she is in her early 50s and still retains incredible beauty, poise and sex appeal.
She understands what it is like to watch a nation drift into a dictatorship. As Cuba, the land of her birth, changed almost overnight into a totalitarian state in 1962, her parents escaped Cuba and settled in Caracas, Venezuela. Today she sees her beloved Venezula descending into the same type of dictatorship.
As shown on U-tube, Maria had reason to rip into Sean Penn for not knowing what he is talking about. Penn traveled to Venezula ostensibly as a “freelance journalist†where he met with Chavez and Ahmadinejad of Iran.
If Penn was really a journalist, why didn’t he ask the two fledgling dictators about the nearly secret financial links between Iran and Venezuela; about their combined links to FARC which makes it money on drug trafficking and kidnapping; about shutting down the free press in Venezuela; and about the Hezbollah terrorists running free in the La Guajira Desert which bisects Columbia and Venezuela.
Instead, Penn praised as “a very beautiful document†the proposed Constitution which would allow Chavez to rule Venezula by decree.
It is not clear whether Penn was paid off by Chavez who has liberally spread cash to other celebrities such as Danny Glover. Glover who got over $18 million to produce two films that Chavez wants made, right after Glover traveled to Caracus and publically praised Hugo. Think those might be pure propaganda and historical fiction, in the same vein as another Chavez supporter, one Oliver Stone?
Chavez put Danny Glover on the Advisory Board of the government sponsored Telesur, a so-called news channel that focuses on Latin America. Its purpose is to compete with and counter both CNN and the BBC's coverage of Latin America.
