Damn, I think I'm finally getting smarter. I understand a lot of what Greengo says in his posts, except some of it of course.

Anymore pointers Greengo? I'm all ears.

Has anybody ever had a few beers or smoke with greengo? Does an yone know him personally?

Captain, it's not really a matter of where as much as of "when."

Green Go observes that at the end of the month, one can encounter ticas who need a little extra cash on the local buses.

Presuming that one has some Spanish and is presentable, it shouldn't be too hard to find semi-pro action during the times of the month between paydays where the local gals find themselves short of cash.

Travel around a little bit. See what you can get for your money in other places. Maybe then you'll come to the same conclusion I have - NO chica I have ever seen in CR is worth $100 for a basic one-hour session.

Business is definitely down for the P4P chicas of CR. There is still money to be made for most os the working chicas but they have to work a little smarter. This poster's RFM was a little suspect because as Paco correctly pointed out,there has NEVER been anywhere close to 200 chicas in the DR at noontime. For that to happen the gringos would have to be paying $500/bang. Last night I stayed around until 10:30pm and went home alone. I bout a drink and chatted up two acceptable chicas but the cien cost was unacceptable to me. I saw one of the chicas in the same stool at the bar 2 hours later with no one pffering her shit. Oh well,as she said the rent was due,and she could have gotten $60 plus maybe a tip from me. The second one was a sexy looking devil that was going into the KL at around 10pm.We chatted over a drink but once again the old "cien" bug got in the way. After parting ways,she returned a half hour later and said "How about $80 plus a tip." I repeated my offer and she was on her way.

So business if off for the chicas,but it does seem to me that if airlines,retail stores,and auto makers can reduce their prices to stay afloat,the intelligent chicas should learn something.

Cien. It's been written about here, and often as "a magic number."

For whatever reason, garnering $100.00 for +/- an hour is necessary for her self-worth, or to pacify the cartel girls who are trying to fix prices at the hundred level, or a variety of other reasons.

The chicas won't reduce prices, no matter how necessary we might think it is.

I think we can expect more creative business practices from the chicas. More RFM's, more clever deals made with an odd freebie to a "valued returning customer," more hard sell.

Hmmmm. Let us know Bob if the prices seem to be dropping. I'd guess not.

And yes, we are taking economic advantage. The chicas are taking physical, emotional and psychological advantage. Both parties consent, and , both parties benefit.

That's how I see it, too!

I have the impression that people in Costa Rica need a bit longer to realize that they might need to adjust what they are asking for. The real estate market is in a similar situation. Condos have gone down a bit but I consider most of them still way overpriced.

Has the economic "almost the great depression" conditions in the USA
changed hotel occupancy rates down in the gluch?
also is the blue marlin crowd size tolerable sun-thur?
If its not tolerable there is always monkey bar and key largo to walk to.

i.e. can you walk into the Del Rey hotel and get a room sunday-wed
like five years ago? or is this a 7 day a week 98% occupied hotel/horndog fest?
maybe del rey should expand over to holiday inn aurola, i'm sure that would bring that properties occupancy up.

the biggest lie in real estate is "its always a good time to buy"
"location,location,location" takes on a whole new meaning when lawyers
move into the buyers condo instead of the buyer. the real estate ripoff fests in costa rica need to adjust pricing down 80% IMHO.

My trabajando favorita discussed the dismal state of affairs at her office...apparently it is Del Rey working girl code NOT to budge off of the cien. Girls that do are looked upon unkindly by the sisterhood. To what extent this is true and whether or not it is "enforced" who the hell knows. But using the rational male gringo brain you would think that the laws of supply and demand should dictate the price. But this hasn't happened...yet. I guess things haven't gotten so bad that the chicas are willing to break the union.

Another point she brought up was that there are still are plenty of guys coming to CR but they are not sessioning as much. They come to drink and banter, "pero no sali." And she misses those guys that waltz in from time to time and throw the cash around to whatever lucky chica happens to be in his way. Guess we are getting a bit more frugal with our mongering of late.

I can't comment on how many chicas were in the Del Rey last night but a girl I know called me today and asked if I would accompany her into the Del Rey tonight so she could work.

According to her, last night they wouldn't let any more unaccompanied girls enter because it was too crowded
