But if you did infact make the booking within the 72hour zone, and then had to make some changes ( I mean you still ended up staying there ), and they charged you the fee then thats shit for business practice.

Its the Sportsman Lodge, not friggin Priceline.

I'm sorry do you want to be charge 4 days? X 2 rooms? only staying for 3 night? what kind of Idiot would do that

Don't think so. I don't know Bill

With the choices of Hotel at Barrio Amon, I'm willing to try others. I love SL for the peace and quite at night. But with the La Amistad, Dunns Inn and Castillo which I can stay for lesser per night rate and would not give me some bullshit like this. I rather stay there! That's great that you guys know the Owner I don't. this had happen to me at the Castillo few months back that I have to change my reservation, and it was handle differently, so don't tell me cause its a small Hotel..blah blah blah Castillo is much smaller, if you still love it that's great more power to you. I'm posting my experience.

Clearly posted on their website is the following...
For any guaranteed reservation accepted by Sportsmens Lodge and secured by your posted credit card information, there is a $50 cancellation fee when you cancel before 72 hours of your reservation date. After the 72 hour reservation period prior to your date of check in, the cancellation fee is %50 of the entire reserved stay to the credit card you use for guaranteeing your reservation. This is backed by the laws of the Federal Govenment of the Untied States of America, Canada, the European Union countries and the Costa Rica Municipalidad.

Notes
This rates not included taxes
Rates indicated include Continental breakfast.

Yes, it happens to suck for you but it is what it is. By the way, guys here are encouraging you to talk to Bill the owner and it may get taken care of, if you're not willing to take their advice then so be it. One less person to compete with for a room at SL 8)

But they didn't cancel their reservation, they simply moved the days forward one.

Interesting typo. :)

...thus canceling the first day and adding an additional day. The result is that SL loses a day's revenue or they split the loss with the "guest".

LemonDrop, it seems to me that you are more interested in complaining about the situation than resolving it. Enjoy your other arrangements. :D

I see where you're coming from TicaFan.

LDK, how long after your original call on Friday did the change to your itinerary occur and when did you contact SL?

How did they come to the $267 charge? Was that 50% of the 3 night stay for 2 rooms when you canceled the entire reservation?

I agree if that were the case. But having called 3-4 days in advance and securing two rooms suggests maybe they would not have been so full that week. If SL turned people away who would have stayed the extra night or people might have called and were turned away for that one night they have a legit claim to at least some revenue for the night. But only LDK at this point knows what time passed between the original reservation and the request for a change and whether or not the hotel explained the situation in those terms or simply said "these are the rules and you violated them so I have to charge you".

Would be interesting to know.

Whats to dispute? The policy, which evidently they followed, is on their web site. You can dispute somethings but I doubt this one would succeed.

I think appealing to Bill is his best route to follow and if he has disputed the charge with the CC company I do not think Bill, or any business owner, would be amenable to being a little lenient and forgiving after going through the hassle of defending the charge with the bank.

i think you miss my point. i definitely see yours and i was only saying if YOU like staying there my guess is that it could have been handled differently than getting your panties in a bunch and causing yourself loss of money on top of it.
me personally i just drop into SL for an occasional drink and shooting the shit but haven't stayed there in well over a year. i don't like getting shuffled from room to room
but if i did have an issue i would just ask for first the manager and then the owner since most of us here do know the guys and find them to be fair and reasonable. good luck

Welcome aboard, Lemon Drop Kiid. Pay no never mind to the sophomoric hazing efforts. I'm sure if you contact Bill directly, you and he can work something out. Bill's a flexible guy and pleasant to interact with. :) Heck, now that you know his CRT handle, you can even practice sending Pm's....

Keep on truckin' buddy....

Thought you, Barry Cohen and the Enforcer were firmly committed to Sleep Inn. Seems you three  guys were the only ones not paying a chica fee.
