My name is Rob and I have only been to CR about 4x. I am staying at Condado Palacio next to Hotel Palacio. I will drop my bags at the condo on Monday night on the way to the Del Rey. Hopefully will not have a problem getting girls back to the condo. Suppose to be a 15 min. cab ride.
Jack, the owner of my condo from Miami, say I will have no problem getting girls back there...? Anyways, I usually get great deals from the girls but have always stayed at the Presidente in SJ.
I think I will spend most of my time at DR and I now have to check out the SL and a few other places I have read about on this forum.

Is there any place in San Jose for a good daytime Texas Hold em game?

Would also like to hook up with some local college girls. Any advice?

condo... 15 minutes away? You may not get such great prices this trip. The girls don't like going that far out because it wastes time going and returning which costs them money. You will probably have to make up the difference. You will find some won't even want to go at all. I have found that there are some who only go to hotels for security reasons, no private residences or apartments. But money talks in all cases.

poker... there is a $1/2 and 2/5 NL holdem game at Clarion Amon Plaza daily starts about 3:30pm.

college girls... how old are you? and how is your spanish? Those 2 things more than anything will determine how much attention you get from them. I heard the San Pedro area is good for college girls. There are some bars there that cater to locals.

That's what I was afraid of on the distance, but we will see how it goes. If it is a problem, I will get another place to stay even though I have already paid for a week. I'm 41 and Spanish is minimal but I usually do pretty good with the ladies. Jack says if I drop his name most of the ladies know who he is and know his place. Time will tell. lol

How far from the DR is the Clarion Amon Plaza? I will definitely go there starting this Tuesday.

I'm not saying that they all won't but you will find some girls not willing to go or try to overcharge you for it. We stayed in Heredia (a little further out...30 minutes) and many girls wouldn't go. So we ended up getting rooms at different hotels downtown for a few days. It worked out well, but was a little pricey.

Don't believe everything "Jack" tells you. Our house owner told us that the house was "clean" and had "hi-speed internet". The house was dirty as can be, mattresses with piss stains on them, and had a 15 year old computer with unreliable dial-up internet. These guys aren't always 100% truthful. The 15 minutes may not be 15 minutes either. It may be 15 minutes at 2am when there are no other cars on the road.

The Amon Plaza is in Barrio Amon, the same neighborhood as Zona Blue, New Fantasy, and Sportsmens Lodge. It's a short taxi ride from DR (<¢1,000).

Thanks for the help. I have been to NF a couple of times, so I know where that is. I need to check out SL, it looks nice. I really enjoy playing blackjack at DR, but never had much luck with the cards there.
I think I may play Hold em at Amon and get my girls from DR...?

Anyway, I can't wait to leave! Love it there. I'm also making plans to go back in April but have been advised April 9,10 may not be a good time because of Holiday? I guess the DR will be closed? I just don't believe the DR would be closed. Not sure about this.

Technically, you aren't playing blackjack at HDR. They only have Rummy, an imitation of blackjack, but with some differences, the main being that there is no 3:2 payout for BJ.

April 9 and 10 are Holy Thursday and Good Friday to Christians, and are official holidays in CR. The whole country pretty much shuts down then. No alcohol can be sold in bars. No booze means no girls, except possibly for a few odd fuglies here and there.
