Check up on those taxes...

I thought you (US Citizens) were tax free if living/earning outside the USA (up to around 70K).

25% more might seal the deal on CR.

I think its something like 85k, but the thing is...thats to "help" prevent you from being double taxed. Meaning...paying income tax to 2 countries! So basically if you're a citizen of the USA, but you are a permanent resident in CR, or there on a work visa, you CAN be taxed by both countries. You're just allowed to claim a credit for the income tax you paid to CR. I guess either way, each country would take 25% income tax in my bracket....so no extra benefit for me in this area.

I am now considering looking for a different job altogether. Not sure if that'd be possible though. Lots of jobs are moving to CR, why not move there in a higher paying (in CR) job?

BangBang, thanks again for all the details. The parking situation sounds pretty fair to me. I may have an opportunity (possibly more than 1) to move to CR with a different job....one paying around TWICE as much. That would mean I'm dipping into retirement social security levels of enjoyment, but without the retiring and tons of free time part. :D
