I used to visit the NY Bar when the early afternoon, old timer crowd came in.
one guy there, wears a cowboy hat, claims to have been the last occupant of the Del Rey before it was converted.
heard some great stories at the NY Bar from the mid afternoon crowd.
anyway, this reminds me of a Sea Story, this is no shit, back when I was working as a pickpocket, we had an old timer named Bobby, he had been a paratrooper in his younger days and had seen action in the DR when old man Johnson dropped in some troops to settle things when the good people of the DR made the mistake of electing someone a little too far left....
anyway, we used to beg Bobby for war stories and shit, between picking pockets and stuff....and I always would inquire about how much the little darlings charged..."Were they mad to see you dropping in out of the sky, Bobby?", I asked.
"Hell no", he replied, "they were glad to see us"
"Well then, how much did they ask?"
Bobby got this far away look and said "It was FREE, until those fools from the Navy showed up and offered to pay for it".
