Aside from the trannies, what is the downside of picking up a SW?
I read about the und**age ones and I know that age of conscent is 15 in CR, and I am pretty confident that I can spot someone below that age and avoid her like the plague,
But are there any other negatives? Like security or health risks that are more than what one might encounter in a bar?

There is ALWAYS a reason why they work the streets, and not a bar or club. THEY ARE BANNED for one of many reasons (age, drugs, fighting, stealing, etc), so I would say there's some downside. I doubt many girls prefer to stand on the street over being in a bar.

BTW, who told you the age of consent is 15? That's jb... and so is 16 and 17.

The age of consent may be 15 in Costa Rica but prostitution with anyone under the age of 18 is still against the law. If arrested and convicted of it you'll face a "vacation" of up to 10 years in a CR hotel. And that is not to mention what might happen to you when you return (or get deported or extradited) back to the US, because the US applies its age of consent laws extraterretorially to its citizens abroad. Even if you don't do anything, if you go behind closed doors with a minor, particularly some street hustler, there is no guarantee what stories they may come up with. So it is best to steer clear of anyone who remotely looks like they might be under 18. ID's in CR are somewhat meaningless to us since we have no real idea what they should look like or how to spot a phony one.

I don't recommend streetwalkers, but there are exceptions to the rule. I know two who work the corner across from Dos Gringos who are not banned from bars, too young, or trannies. They are sisters, and the cuter one is a little headstrong and doesn't like the Key Largo or Del Rey and says she does better on the streets with local guys who know where to find her when they want her. The sister goes along with the alpha female. Some locals (married or who knows) don't want to be seen inside the KL or DR so even if they can afford the high prices, so they don't go there.

As I said at the start, I do not recommend looking for 'action' on the streets. I am only saying that I know of two who do not fit the generalizations.

Go to one of the low rent MP's. Most of them are fugly enough and if you toss in a propina, maybe one of them will go out to the street corner to appease you

bilko ...i did the little older one ,,,(if i am correct she has some missing teeth) sounds bad but i think i remember that ...i see her hanging there alot so one night i pulled her up to the room ...she was clean and was ok ...i think i paid 40...she waves at me every time i ride or walk by...I did see what looked like a 15 to 17 year old ...she was as hot as any girl i have seen in san jose ...she had 2 ticos hanging with her ...i would touch it for all the money in the world ,,,if fact i didnt want to make eye contact with her ...it was maybe 9:30 at night ...when i left the morazan about a hour later and she was gone but the 2 ticos were still there ...

The reason I asked is because there are aleays women who don't want to give part of their profit to an establishment and might be going the SW way.
But if they are SW because they are banned from clubs because of stealing or fighting with clients, then that's another story.

Karamba, someone needs to give this newbie some advice.

Pourdesp, the chikas inside Hotel del Rey are "independent kontraktors", they don't have to pay the hotel a kut of their profit.

The "SW way" is not fun in San Jose; krime, drugs, violence are abundant in the city.

I was going to give you a link on 'Ticosexo' where the laws concerning und***ge were spelled out in detail, but the thread has been deleted because it delt with und***ge chicas. But in general, and I may be off just a little in terms of length of the sentences but:

sexual relations with an und***ge chica for money and or without parental consent:
under 18 but over 16: 2-3 years in prision
under 17 but over 14: 5-6 years in prision
under 15 but over 12: 10 years in prision
under 12: throw away the key

And this is the law for Ticos!! As a gringo there are also international treaty laws and US laws concerning international travel for sex with a minor! Costa Rica has an on going WAR against und***ge sex trade--get caught and you are looking at many many years of confinement.

And a couple of other points that many guys do not seem to realize:
1:Even if she has a cedula that says she is 18 but turns out to not be and you are caught with her; YOU ARE GUILTY, PERIOD!!
2: Do not think that just because she is in the DR or SL, and her cedula has been checked, that she IS 18!!! Many chicas have been caught (and many more have not been caught) using their sisters, cousins, or even a friends cedula. Hell one chica got caught at the REY the week before her 18th birthday after working there for 1 week short of 3 years!!

And, yes, many of the street chicas are und***ge!! They also are more than likely on drugs and or selling drugs, have a couple of Ticos watching to rob you, and are much more likely than the other working chicas to have an STD!! With several 1000 pros in the regular venues, why would anyone want to take the chance???
