We are aware of your long standing desire to report the going on's in the land of milk and honey exactly as they occur but to avoid the multitudes of PM's we request you report something bright, uplifting and cheerful.

I'm thinking it's Prayer Time!!!

Beer Prayer

Our lager,
Which art in barrels,
Hallowed be thy drink.
Thy will be drunk, (I will be drunk),
At home as it is in the pub.
Give us this day our foamy head,
And forgive us our spillage's,
As we forgive those who spill against us.
And lead us not to incarceration,
But deliver us from hangovers.
For thine is the beer, The bitter and The lager.
For ever and ever.

YO Bar Bandits:
Thanks V-Bob for the update. Guess they are trying to catch up with Idems drink charges. As Tman stated, Old Circus' routine has always been to buy one drink with beverage and then open my personal bar that I carry with me. But now, that first drink is getting more expensive. Hmmm, maybe I could just order tap water and change to scotch.....NAW. Stop drinking.....NAW. Smoke dope.......NAW. Stay in my room and drink.........YAHOO. I just hope the chicas don't miss me when I fail to show up in the BM. Geezzzz, I guess it's getting impossible to bring one back to the room for $18. HOME ALONE.

the Key Largo has done the same, btw. However, my own personal solution is just to buy less. It's not very hard, actually. All you have to do is wait for the bartenders to approach YOU and you can sit all night without buying a drink. Their bartenders (with a few exceptions) avoid eye contact with the same fervor the hookers seek it. Time to revive the hip flask.

No disrespect to anyone on this board, but as a former bar/restaurant owner for 22 years, I always looked at the people who snuck in their own booze, etc as low life thieves that were stealing food off my table. Altho I'm sure that I will not change any low life habits that other members may have developed over the years, by expressing my views, I just thought that I would mention another perspective. Sure, John and Greg at the DR "probably won't miss a few colones" that low life mofos steal from them--but that is probably what several low lifes said about me too--right before I kicked their low life asses out and told them to stay the f*ck away from my establishment. I guess I never took a liking to thieves and liars. This is also the reason that drink prices are so high--to cover some of the theft, which this behavior happens to fall under. So you guys do what you have to do to justify you behavior--just thought I would throw in my dos colones worth

One point of clarification is that an Imperial is 1000c, not 1050c. Bavaria is more expensive I think. I should know, I consumed about 50k worth of Imperial this weekend. The 25 cent increase is no big deal except that it makes it more difficult to tip the bartenders. However, it would really piss me off if I drank Bavaria, as then you are dealing with 950 in plata every time you get a beer.

Being that I'm the only one in this topic that expresses my open practice of carrying in my own, I have to conclude that I am the LOW LIFE LIAR THEIF you are referring to. Hell, I've certainly been called worse but geezzz.....from another forum member. It's a good thing I have low esteem. Maybe I should change my name to "Low Life Liar Theif Circus." Aw shit, too many letters to type. I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for you in case we ever run into one another, hopefully not........you're a trip. Would appreciate it if you would post the name of any bar you currently have an interest in........Old Circus needs to keep outa there. Damn, and I thought SJ was getting a bit dangerous.

As to my good qualities............lo siento, I can't seem to think of any.

Cool...ZB is still 17,000 for cash customers.
1000 for an Imperial huh...now that is a problem (not really),
means I still have to carry around a bunch of
100 colone coins...the things we go through
to get a smile...
December is finally here, can't wait, 25 days to go
before I will once again be grinning from ear to ear... 8)

Headline in tomorrows Tico Times:

"Low life Circus Bum thrown out of Del Rey with
chica who answers to the name Huggie"

SAN JOSE; A rather shabby dressed American who has been know to frequent high end establishments like the fashionable Blue Marlin Bar in the family orientated Del Rey Hotel was ejected from the premisisses by two security guards who appeared to be midget like in stature.
The American, known simply as "Circus", not to be confused with "Circus Boy" who was so elegantly portrayed by the handsome Mickey Dolan, appeared to be either high or suffering 60's withdrawal symptoms.
"At first, we thought he was a refuge from the Montazuma area but then we realized he was just a bum trying to steal drinks from our beloved and generous owner, Big John.", said one of the midgets who had to be calmed with a vodka mini which mysteriously appeared at the scene.
Mothers and Daughters were seen running and screaming at the mear sight of the wirey yet rather hairy American. Many onlookers thought it was a late halloween stunt. Unfortunatly, Big John who was in shock, could not be reached for comment but his staff reported that the hotel's aim is to keep the guests safe from this low life element. The staff member went on to say that Costa Ricans should not assume all Americans are like this, saying this was an isolated incident.
Unfortunatly, Mr. Circus (or whatever his name is) has been banned for life from the high end hotel and its properties which include the Monkey Bar (a hangout for many american celebrities), and the Key Largo which is famous for its cultural dance company. In closing, the hotel added that the chica in the rubbery outfit also is no longer welcome.

You were saying just what I was thinking today about the bartenders at the KL today, only it wasn't really about the prices. What's up with those chicas? I was a bartender for a good number of years and I always watch the bar. I was there several nights last week. I'm always polite and say hello, please, and thank you. Plus as an old bartender I tip very well. What do you have to do to get a smile or a pleasant look out of them. Or just get a drink when you want one. They could be selling at least 30% more booze in the place with some bartenders that are on top of things. Sorry, I know most on the board rave about the KL bartenders but they are terrible. Met the guy who runs the place the other night through a mutual friend. He's seems like a very nice guy, but didn't want to mention this after just meeting him.

That was GOOD. Damn, for off the cuff and so quickly, you are quite a writer. Opps, I should have remembered.....you are a writer.

To tell the truth......Old Circus has been thrown out of the DR and BM both. They just have a problem with a character like me. Shit, you should have seen the episode in Sharkeys.............

YO Pops:

Diablo was right on. You are a CHEAP LOW LIFE LIAR. Mom and I certainly agree on that. Hell, you neglected to send the alimony checks to mom after you said "they were in the mail." You are the cheapest SOB that ever lived......remember the Christmas packages you gave me that when I opened them there was an I.O.U. piece of paper in them. As far as low life.......that is certainly reflected on the "Great Digs" you have in that rusted delapidated double wide next to that toxic city dump. Talk about property devaluation.

John and the establishment at the DR let it be known that they do not want your sorry ass and the mini vodkas back in their place. The chicas and bartenders certainly don't. Face it, old fart, your time is about to end due to your obscene and careless ways. I just hope you go belly up soon so mom and me can get some dinero form that life insurance policy she keeps paid up.

Now that would be a Merry Christmas.

Your loving son (yeah right) The younger.

This is amazing.......Papa Nut is right.....the Del Rey raises the price of an Imperial by 25 cents and we have 28 posts about that!!!!!! Think of all the quarters you guys saved by no longer having to pay a cover at Key Largo.

I just remembered why I stayed off this board for almost 1 yr. Anyone have any decent chica reviews?????

John has his eye on a new catamaran! Probably going for an 80 footer this time.

Good for him. It's called "free enterprise."

Don't like the price? Go someplace else.

Jeez! 29 posts over 25 cents.
