Domino's Pizza Closes Its Doors in Costa Rica

Without notice to employees and customers, the Mexican owners of the Domino's Pizza franchise in Costa Rica decided to pull up stakes and close its nine store on Saturday, leaving its 130 employees, unemployed. The order from the head office in San Francisco de Dos Ríos, San José, went out that all stores to be closed, all equipment and inventory to be pulled, without any explanation as to the why.

Employees told the press that the move (closing) was surprising, though not totally unexpected, as the company had been losing money, estimated at us$2 million by the employees of the pizza chain. Employees now hope the owners will at least pay all salaries and the "liquidación" - severance pay that is owed to employees.

All the Domino's Pizza stores were located in the Gran Área Metropolitana (San José).

Surprised they lasted as long as they did. Their prices were outrageous almost double Pizza Hut or Papa Johns. All 3 serve garbage so have never figured out why any of them stay in business.

Its gotta be just the comfort of using an American name company or something ID. I dont have a clue. You are definitely right... All three of these pizzas suck.....

now if they would just close in the US , worst pizza I have ever had in my life..and NO, not in Costa Rica

I agree. I worked for almost two years for this pos operation.Real dirtbags and incompetents from end to end.Good riddance. Feel bad for the workers, though.

Now that Dominoes has folded, maybe HLH will recognize there is an opportunity to fill the void and open it's NY STYLE pizza business!

I was under the impression many already do, and instead of bread sticks and dipping sauce they got a certificate of waiver from sit ups.

Unfortunately there is still Pizza Hut, KFC, McD's and many other american fast "Junk" food all over San Jose . Hence more gorda chicas. Flacas...we need more flacas....

A litlle time on the treadmill wouldn't go amiss either. The horizontal bop, the head-bobbing slurp-n-burb, and watching nickolodeon don't really cut it as aerobic exercises...

I've bought Pizza Hut for the ZB/HLH chicas a several times Last time was for Kristi's birthday.

When ever I need a good case of indigestion which will last for two days, I eat at Pizza Hut.

If I want the indigestion to last for a week, it’s Domino’s.

No loss except to the poor people who lost jobs in a really bad economy.
