Are you familiar with other ERP apps and just making the move to SAP because they are one of the biggest?

If you are in IT you know that most companies that can afford SAP are huge so your first hurdle is going to be HR. There isn't a HR professional in the world that knows IT and the just look for buzzwords that the manager threw into the job description they handed to HR. If you get past that interview and actually get to a IT interview you better know your stuff. Reading SAP in 24 Hours isn't going to replace experience. Like I said, if you got ERP experience then you may be okay as a ERP is ERP in a lot of ways and you just need to learn the nuances of SAP. If not, it's going to be tough going.

I agree with Spanky. Your first hurdle is that you are competing with lots of experienced SAP consultants. You will also find it tough getting an interview without experience.

I would suggest going to a SAP certified training center and get trained and certified by them. This might increase your chances of landing a job.

I've been working with SAP for 14 years now, and I have to say, it's not an easy business to break into...

Learning from books will NOT help... You really have to experience the system.

If you have access to a system, or if you take classes, you will do much better.

The best possible way to get into SAP is to get a job where they have SAP and move to that department...

The money earned by SAP professionals is a lure to a lot of people, but you don't get that money until you've been in the business for a while... It's slow and methodical, and you have to dedicate yourself to getting into that group...

I was REALLY lucky and fell into SAP when it was starting in the US... but it's getting harder and harder to find good gigs...
