I need to book a room at Sportsmans Lodge for the middle of October (my big 4 oohhh birthday gift to myself). I know I'm going to get a standard large room, but which one should I request.

The last time I stayed at SL I was in Tranquilidad in the courtyard. Room was okay, but a little loud one night I was sick and just wanted to sleep. I want to get a room that is close enough to the bar that I can walk there in my socks for breakfast, but still be away from the noise. I also need pretty good wireless for my VOIP.

What are you guys suggestions on room choices. I think with this much lead time I should be able to get whichever room I request.

Thanks in advance,

BH

I'm a big fan of Las Palmas, in the new wing. I believe it still costs $79 a night, before the 10% CRT discount.

El Rey is a cool room, it is in the new wing also. Has a little kitchenette type thing behind the bedroom and a little outdoor courtyard/garden type area next to that. Great place to send the "smoking" chicas, if you are a non-smoker.

El Rey is a great room. However, I believe it is classified as a Jr. Suite and therefore might be above the price range (standard large) Bhuey seeks. There have been a few posts in the past describing the rooms in the new wing.

Thanks, I'm just going to request a standard large and accept the luck of the draw. Hell, I guess i'll just consider myself lucky if I can stay in one room the whole trip. Does anybody know where I can get one of the amplified WiFi antennas I have heard about? Not sure if they are exactly 100% legal or not.

Good chance you will end up in the courtyard with the accompanying bar noise. I would recommend asking for a room in the New Wing $79-99 or Mansion Wing $119-149

You will NOT be dissapointed in either

SL really needs to publish a map of the hotel with room names and grades. I have never stayed there and find the whole thing quite confusing. That's probably the main reason I've never stayed there!

It's not confusing if you PM a few people and ask. The place is constantly booked so it's not hurting for business.

If you go to the search function, plug in the words 'mirador,' 'felicidad,' and 'ilusion,' ask the engine to search the 'hotels, resorts, accomodations & transportation' thread, your questions will probably be answered. But then, I don't want to twist anyone's arm, as the place is usually full and I don't need the competition.
