My first visit to the Gulch is coming up in a little over a week and 1st on my itinerary are BM & KL. Since I've never been to either of these bars before, I was just curious as to whether once you're in these bars do the women "swarm" all over you sort of what one might expect in a bar in TJ or are they pretty subdued so that one can go in there & relax and take ones time trying to pick someone out rather than fighting off chicks you don't really want to deal with. Thx.

Yes Piroca you will be swarmed every minute, no relaxing for you

If you get a marker and write “NO CIEN” in big letters on the front and back of your shirt that might help a little.

Or sit in the middle of the CRT Posse they will shield you and if you are a good guy might point the good ones out of the swarms.

Stick to your gameplan as to who you want and when. They will stake their territory once conversation begins and alot of the others gals will respect a working commrade in action and not stop to talk with ya, even though you've given another the "eye".

At times I would have to tell one, hey, tu eres muy linda, pero tu no eres my tipo. (you are very pretty, but not my type), in order to talk with one on the other side of me. Stand your ground and think with both heads.

They will smell that your fresh meat, more so at the BM than KL. But if you plan to spend a few days in the Gulch, they will notice that as well and the "freshness" of you will wear off which can be good, and give you a chance to be a bit more selective. The key is , don't be overwhelmed, at least obviously overwhelmed (b/c we were all overwhelmed in our virgin visit to the BM), take your time and survey the market, and above all, have a great time.

ps: The gauntlett is that narrow strip of land between the bar and the wall where it narrows down to about 4-5 feet wide, lined on both sides with chicas. They grab, coo, hiss, kiss and maul you like you were playing rugby and made the unfortunate decision to run with the ball.

My first trip a couple years ago I went into the melee in late afternoon, before the scene gets out of control (this in the old days I knew absolutely no one in town). I was determined to check it out and then book and I did. I dragged little head Kicking Screaming out of there and that makes a statement in itself, don’t think anything goes unnoticed. From now on you are not quite have the smell of Such Fresh Meat. I walked around ate a meal take some deep breaths shake my heads. This worked well until a few hours goes by and little head drags My Ass back up the hill.. OK, I have been blooded and groped, I da Man I way cool. Here is the good part: I Go in again and the predators give a little slack. A Girl of My Dreams slips through the offence and park on my lap, a CUTE Nica that doesn’t know where hotel Presidente is (now can I think where it is at this point – phuck no I have to ask). Needless to say ever since I have felt like I am Home whenever I return to SJO. So give yourself some room to think with big head.

Look in the mirror and practice saying ‘no’ or ‘si’ with your eyes:

You have to look around to check things out. Try to look at their tits or whatever but Eye Contact is inevitable. Learn to cut to the chase at a distance or you will spend hours weeding. Don’t Let Them Stake You Out, you lose valuable time. If you are there for awhile it is fine to make ‘friends’ which I always do but if you only have the weekend don’t waste time chatting at girls you are not attracted to. As stated there is an honor system among them that they don’t double on you very often. Clear your line of fire right off. Between undesirable putas, beggars, shoe shine guys, street musicians, pan handlers, cigar sellers, pirate taxis and wandering medicos the look you have in your eyes can serve you well. You will say “no gracias” in one day more than you have ever in your life probably. Play it as you see it, not the other way around.

And yes you are admonished have fun which I am sure you will it is pretty easy. I am about a week behind you, you would never know I am excited about the trip would ya?

I told myself before I stepped into the BM for the first time that I would have 2 beers and talk to 10 chicas before I let myself take anything back.

It worked pretty well, by the time I had met that goal I was over the initial shock and the girls had seen I was capable of turning them away.

I was there for a week though, taking it mellow. Like BB King says, I'm built for comfort, not for speed

My first trip to the BM lasted about 5 minutes and I was out the door back to my hotel with a chica who turned out to be okay. I returned that night and within 10 minutes I had taken another chica who turned out to to be great. I could not control myself the first few visits.

Of course they swarm.That's what they do for a living. One thing that chicas do that I find interesteing is that once a chica has made some headway with a guy,she will place her purse in front of you.If she goes to the banjo she asks you to watch it.This is their way of staking a claim similar to the animals in the jungle. It tells the other predators to stay away. It's really quite funny. I saw one chica violate anothers claim,and she was coldcocked and decked by the first chica. An accurate description of the DR and KL that I have heard is that it is fidderent that bars in the States because "we" have the pussies.

I think it was my years of experience in the stripclubs of SF. It is just about as hard to resist a half naked girl grabbing your C*ck and trying to get you to take her to the back for a private show. But you learn that the aggressive ones will leave you standing in your private room with your pants around your ankles wondering how you ended up trading $50 for this roll of toilet paper. :/ I got ripped like this once when I was in my 20's and I have seen it countless times since.

I'm not saying it wasn't a struggle, but the times I made sure the big AND little heads were in agreement on my chica choice were the best times I had.

That's really kind of funny...the chicas staking their claim on a Gringo. I've seen that happen (placing the purse (or a drink) in front of you) many times.
The only problems with that scenario occurs when a chica/favorita from a previous trip recognizes you and rushes over to give you a beso/abrazo
etc. It's funny to see the jealousy of the chica returning from the bano.
I've also seen many near fights and/or harsh words exchanged because of it.
